I found a TT on the side of the road and was given another. I replaced the belt in one and stylus in the other. But now I need a cartridge for one, wanted to stay with MM and only wanted to spend no more than $300 to $500. Tivoli had Garrotts and the K series had been getting some good reports. A friend has a K3 and liked it. In the end I got a K2. The difference between 1, 2 and 3 is the stylus. I paid less than $300 for the K2 at the time. I had read where Garrotts play the music and hide the noise. This is true. Not only that the cart. appears to make all music sound good. The TT it is currently in is a new AT direct drive. With removable head shells and half a dozen new and refurbished old carts. cartridge rolling is fun, fun fun. Of all the carts the K2 is one I just keep going back to. My main rig is a Rega planar3, RB300 arm and Ortofon Rondo Blue MC. But the AT and K2 are fun and good sounding.

EXPIRED Allnic h5500 phono stage
Mk1946 posted a topic in Stereo, Home Cinema, Headphones Components
Further Information: The best sounding phono stage I've had. Maybe 100 hours tops since bought new in November 2022 New price is $7300 -
Further Information: This phono pre amp is a very good sub $1000 (retail price $900) unit that rivals more expensive pre amps. Most notable are it's ability to transit a smooth, tight, full sound with a good amount of detail. Drums especially sound round and full. Stereo image and layering is very good for the price point as well. I have upgraded my phono stage so I no longer need this unit. Highly recommended for systems that sound a little too bright and forward. With good cables this unit ties the music together beautifully. Adds a little sonic density and soul to bright and fatiguing systems without sacrificing detail overall. Have original box, manual and dip stick for switching settings. Auditions welcome. Shipping can be arranged at buyers expense.

I've bought a couple of MC cartridge, one is LO (0.25mv) the other HO (1.6mv). I'm currently using a Project Tube Box DS2. I know I can use that and it will work well. I've also managed to get my hands on a very cheap Yaqin MS12-B which is a MM only phone stage. The HO may work as is. The LO will definitely need to be bumped up. I've been looking at SUTs and had a thought - will it work if (technically, I know actual performance will be a suck it and see). Anyway, can I connect the LOMC to the project with correct loading etc, then connect the line level output to the Yaqin CD input (as opposed to the RIAA input), then from the Yaqin to the Reisong A10. Or shall I just invest in a step up (thinking Denon AU-320) and go direct to Yaqin then into the Reisong?

Further Information: A good way to get in to a tube phono preamp for not a crazy amount of money. Had this for a while now and it’s worked brilliantly in my system although like most Little Bears can be susceptible to external noise (hence why I made a solid tube shield). This has sounded exceptional in my system and punches way above its weight. Only noise I’ve had is from EOP on same power loop, but even that is well below normal listening levels. Gives your vinyl a wonderful tube sound and great soundstage. The v10’s come in a clear plastic case which I wasn’t keen on, so this is mounted in this hefty Alu case with various tweaks made internally to accomodate (lifted tube sockets, shielded input cable run down side). Happy to open the preamp up for those that are interested. Also the toroidal transformer has been moved to another chassis with an umbilical to mitigate any potential hum caused by the transformer being in proximity of the tubes and audio circuits. Have Russian tubes in it now and the original Chinese tubes will also come with the preamp. It’s pretty heavy so not really keen on posting but can review if required. Selling to buy some tubes for a new preamp, don’t want to put this in a cupboard to never see the light of day again. Happy to answer any questions. See less

I've been looking for a good quality used phono stage MM & MC under $700. My initial target was the Bel Canto Phono 1 as I have mostly Bel Canto gear, but it appears that they are either not common, or people tend to hang on to them, not sure which. So I am expanding my range of choices. The cartridge will be either a; Ortofon 2M black, Garrott Bros p77 or a Audio Technica 95E. I've read just about every review there is for phone stages in my price range and cartridge requirements and am not sure which way to go. So there is the challenge. I've already got a NAD PP3 and whilst it certainly plays music I think the turntable/arm/cartridge combination would benefit from a more sophisticated phono stage. I live in Bathurst NSW, can pay either by Paypal or direct deposit and am always happy to pay for shipping. Have I forgotten anything? if I have let me know. So if you have a phono stage for sale that you think fits the bill, let me know the; manufacturer, model, condition and price and some pictures would also be nice I appreciate you checking out this post Thanks

Payment Methods: Paypal, Cash - Pickup. Extra Info: Facts and Details Violectric PPA V600 By: Violectric Description:PHONO PRE-AMP PPA V600 Finest Pre-Amplifier with countless Features The PPA V600 was developed with the target to enable highest transmission quality for moving-coil and moving-magnet phono cartridges. For this reason PPA V600 offers balanced inputs via 5-pin XLR and unbalanced inputs via cinch. Gain may be set with the aid of a rotary switch in steps of 6 dB from +30 dB to +60 dB. The exact level balance is maintained by a potentiometer with center detent. This enables a fine adjustment of even unusual cartridges to the subsequent equipment. The gain cell itself is a very fast and noiseless balanced instrumentation amplifier which is normally used for microphone preamplifiers. Because of the possible balanced wiring to the phono cartridge maximum noise and hum immunity can be achieved. - Input-impedances are 9-times selectable by Dip-Switches. - Input capacities are 16-times slectable by Dip-Switches. - The equalizer characteristic may be set to RIAA, NAB, BBC and Flat law. - A lo-cut filter according to IEC is switchable. 8 adjustment points inside the unit as well as high-precision and low-tolerance components are granting the RIAA-equalization to be at least 0,05 dB accurate. The complete signal path is DC coupled, all filter stages are passive by design. Of coarse only selected "musical" components had been used for the filter design. Balanced and unbalanced outputs with a maximum level of +28 dBu (unbal. +22 dBu) enable stressless interconnection with the following equipment. A built-in special wide range (90 V ... 260 V AC) low noise switch mode supply enables hum-free operation. Case and back panel are made from aluminum, Nextel coated. The 8 mm aluminum front panel is black anodized. The labeling is laser engraved. Item: Yamaha RX-V2095 Location: Abbotsford, Melbourne Price: $300 Item Condition: 8/10 (No discernable marks) Reason for selling: Selling on behalf of my bro, who's moving to the US Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Find a review here Some words from my bro (although I think mostly from the Yamaha website ): "The RX-V2095 is a 7 channel receiver providing the finest performance and processing available for music and video sound. Discrete power transistors rather than IC chips are used in the amplifier section to provide the cleanest sound possible. The amp delivers 100 watts each to the five channels i.e. Main, Centre and Rear at a very low 0.02% THD and 25 watts each to the front effects. This amp is a true audiophile quality product in perfect operatingcondition. I paid $2,100 for this unit and it comes packaged in a rare Gold and wood styling. Included are remotes (Main and Zone 2), AM Loop Antenna and the original User Manual." Feel free to shoot through any questions and I'll answer as soon as I can . Hey there fellas, Long time reader but only fourth time poster. Appreciate any advice anybody can offer on the below. Its come time to archive my records, its getting too hard to store them all and they are getting damaged by heat and age ETC. Giving me nightmares actually so I have decided to dedicate the time and money to record them to wav. They are all 12". I only want to do it once, and I want to do it right. So very interested to hear your thoughts and suggestions. Heres what i have currently, 1x Technics SL1200MKII 1x Shure M97x stylus 1x Pioneer DJM800 Mixer with digital out and balanced xlr out 1x Presonus Firestudio with both analog and digital inputs 1x Windows DAW, software includes: sound forge, ableton, cubase, serato scratch live The so many variables and not enough time in my life to test them all, so I come to you guys for some advice. Firstly, A) I was considering buying a proper phono stage.. Is this going to make a massive difference over using the pre's that are in the DJM800? If so, recommendations on units, with the sound interface i have I can use stages with either analog or digital outs. Budget for the stage is maxing out at about $3000. Another option is to buy another sound interface that has a phono stage inbuilt. Software reccomendations for recording, some of these older albums could benefit from a little touching up/remastering C) If i dont buy the stage, and use the pioneer mixers phono inputs, should i do the ADC right in the mixer and go digital from the mixer to the sound cards input, or should i go out of the balanced XLR and do the ADC at the presonus sound interface? D) Is this shure hifi stylus ive got the way to go, or would you guys suggest another type Anything fundamentally different to suggest, or that i have missed? Obviously there are some phono stages that have USB outs in which case the sound card and mixer both become redundant, but the higher end models i have looked at seem to lack both USB and digital outs. Cheers, Paul

I needed another MM phono stage and was impress with the sound of a headphone amp I made a friend using the LM833 opamp. I decide to make another (three and counting) Bruce Heron MM stage based on a OPA2134 opamp. But liking the sound of the all bi-polar LM833 I used that chip. Mainly MKT caps (yes I know not sonic perfect but extremely accuate values needed here) and one NP output cap. Built on a prototype brd, silver soldered and with silver plated hookup wire. Powered by 3 X 9V batteries and bituminised Al foil lined metal enclosure. Lots of gain and on a quick listen sounds OK. It has a battery test point at the front and earth terminal at the rear. The differential voltage is developed with a resistive and capacity network. Easy really and works well.

Hi Having recently purchased an Ingenium from one of our sponsors, I was looking at possible cartridges for same. I have a Benz Micro MC20E2-L lying about doing little currently, and was thinking about a Grado Reference Platinum 1 as possible cartridges. I am wondering if there are people out there who have an Ingenium and have used either of these cartridges or could recommend something around the $400 mark? The Ingenium is coming with the Project 9" Carbon arm and will initially be using the Phono stage of my Carat A57 amp to Elac FS 68.2 speakers with Townsend Supertweeters. Thanks in advance.... JJ

Further information: Bought this new around 6 months ago and used it for only a few hours. Great budget phono. Only selling, as I already had a Pro-Ject DS on laybuy at the time, which I've been using as my phono pre for the last 4 or 5 months. As you can see, everything is as if you bought brand new, with all original packaging etc. included. No marks or anything on the two boxes that I could see. There are what kind of looks like scratches in the first pic. They are actually the brushed aluminium or steel fascias, which is attractive, but difficult to capture with my iPad camera! Further information: This unit comes with an upgraded 12AU7 Mullard (NOS) tube. Original Chinese tube is included. Provides a spacious sound stage with dark background ( low noise) on MM. Coupled with a SUT, it really sings (MC), and sounds high-end ( LP12/Denon DL-103R). Best suited with SS amp. Enjoyed this with my Sansui AU-717. Punches way above the asking price. Selling as I require more gain flexibility with my audio research preamplifier and I have contracted the Itch Upgradivitis bug (SNA mutation). I'm keen to try a Nagra BPS, not that fussy on condition as long as the function is unimpaired. Cheers
