These are excellent carts for the money, l had to pay double to improve on it! Purchased in September 2020 from Klapp AV. Both are unmarked and faultless. Includes factory packaging, manuals, remotes, power cables and balanced XLR interconnects. They still have the tear off protection on the displays! The 8300A includes a configurable phono stage for moving coil and moving magnet and multiple analogue inputs. The 8300CD has multiple digital inputs and can be used as a DAC via USB for external digital sources at 32-bit/384KHz. Details can be found on Audiolab’s website. Can be auditioned before purchase. Local pickup preferred but can post at buyers expense.
  6. Further Information: Very cute Sony HA-T10 Step up Transformers (SUT) for MC cartridges. These are very handy devices for one's audiophile toolkit - 1:20 ratio plug in transformers suitable for range of MC cartridges, and a wonder of micro engineering by Sony. More details here on these. They sound fantastic too - they don't compete with my regular sized SUTs, but wow, they come surprisingly close. These are a little used with scratches etc, and three of the little screws on the outside seem to have fallen out. But this does not affect the sound - they work perfectly. I am only parting with them as I really don't use them!
  7. Further information: AUDIO TECHNICA OC9XEB moving coil cartridge Purchased last September and professionally installed and removed by the good folk at @Frank Prowse Hi-Fi. Presents as new with conservative 50 to 80 hours of use. Price is firm. This was a great entry into vinyl and MC carts, a very dynamic cart with great bang for buck. Prefer local pick up so you can check it out in person. 9. Further information: Van Den Hul The Frog Gold - Moving Coil Phono Cartridge The van den Hul Frog Gold MC Cartridge is a custom hand-built moving coil cartridge with matched Gold-Wire coils and a Solid Boron Cantilever making it sound even smoother and more refined than the standard Frog - the best cartridge available for the price! The Frog Gold has a 0.65 mV/channel output, matched gold-wire coils and an extra internal support magnet. Purchased brand new from Carlton Video Audio, I will be sad to see this cart go, its such an amazing cart for its price, I have had the cart for 14 months however it really hasn't had extensive use. It comes with the VDH original box. Not interested in low ballers (sorry) I will just simply keep it if that's the case, happy to audition for those who are truly interested. I will make a donation to SNA upon sale.
  10. Further Information: In great working order. Bought from another SNAer about a year ago to upgrade from a Cambridge Audio Azur 640p. Complemented my Rega P3-24 with a Denon DL-304 MC cart really well sonically, with classic Rega styling. Flexible loading options and two-position adjustable gain. Only selling due to upgrade to Acoustic Signature Tango II. NOTE: suits MC (moving coil) cartridges only. No box - manual available here: https://www.rega.co.uk/download/fono-mc-manual-2017.pdf

  12. Further information: Hana ML Moving coil cart. 4mv This cart is around 3 years old and only used for around 200 hours. Very difficult to show up close how good condition the diamond tip is, but trust me it looks great under a magnifier. It has been stored in the drawer as a spare for the last 18 months, and being wasted so would rather see it being enjoyed. Can't find the stylus guard, Hana might be able to send the buyer one if requested but not sure. Cantilever is perfectly straight. Rated one of the best performing carts for its price and up to $3k. Priced to sell quickly, at half new price and will post Australia wide included. Photos:
  13. Further information: less than 20 hours. One week old bought from retailer have receipt. Save a few hundred dollars on a new MC cartridge. https://www.hifinews.com/content/audio-technica-oc9xsh-cartridge
  14. Another of Hana's amazing value products up for grabs - a Hana ML low output moving coil cartridge. Current RRP is now $1,995 and is still a relative bargain amongst other mid-level price-point moving coil cartridges. Manufacturer product page: https://www.hanacartridges.com/products/hana-ml Here is the review from a source that is beyond reproach: https://www.stereonet.com/uk/reviews/hana-ml-cartridge-review which resulted in it receiving a Stereonet Applause Award. This has been a thoroughly entertaining cart from the get-go. It really hunts out the detail and provides a very honest and accurate representation of the pressing. It really didn't take much more than about 35 hours to run-in and start giving its best. I have used this cart sparingly for a couple of hours a week since buying it new in Nov 2021. My whole hi-fi was mothballed for 6 months in the interim due to house renovation work which has kept the hours lower still. I log my usage meticulously (it is not sophisticated - I write it on the fridge and update with every session) and it is sitting at 129 hours total. It is essentially new and presents that way. Cartridge with stylus guard, inner box, allen key, 2 pairs of bolts, owner's manual - all in the original Hana outer box. Will be well protected and packed. I'm including AusPost standard shipping at the asking price.
  15. Further Information: Practically brand new. Bought from n February and his been boxed most of the year. RRP near $4k. Have a Fono MC phono stage mk4 in a seperate listing so can sell together too. All boxes etc
  16. Further information: TEMPORARY PRICE DROP! Shelter 501 Mk2 Low Output MC cartridge with Soundsmith Optimum Contour Nude Contact Line Diamond on Ruby Cantilever! The Shelter 501 Mk2 has long been recognised as an over-achiever for the price, with particularly captivating vocals, a warm involving midrange, good rhythm and a focused and deep stereo soundstage. It offers unparalleled performance for the price, even before the major upgrade done to this one! The Absolute Sound review said "Let me come right out and say it: The Shelter 501 MK II is the best sub-US$1000 cartridge I’ve yet heard." While the standard 501 Mk 2 has an aluminium cantilever and elliptical stylus, I had this one upgraded by Peter Ledermann of Soundsmith in Peekskill, New York to their top-of-line Optimum Contour Nude Contact Line polished diamond stylus and Ruby cantilever. The overall character of the Shelter 501 cartridge remains the same, but the stereo image is more tightly focused with a wider sound stage, there is more bass weight, and solo voices and instruments show their personalities even more intensely. Rhythm is even better than before. And as a side benefit the OC/CL stylus has a much longer life than a standard elliptical. The Shelter 501 Mk 3 (the current model) has an Australian list price of $1999 The current cost of the Soundsmith OC/Nude CL on Ruby cantilever upgrade and shipping to Australia is US$600 (nearly AU$900) (plus cost of shipping to the US, and GST on return). All up well over AU$1000. So you can think of this cartridge, if new, as costing WAY over $2500 - and it sounds like it! I would estimate that it has had about 150 hours use (a tiny fraction of its expected life). Here's a description of this upgrade from the Soundsmith website: "For those who demand the best, this is one of our our top-shelf capability upgrades for upgrading almost any cartridge or styli assembly. We install a Ruby Single Crystal cantilever which holds a Nude Optimized Contour Contact Line Diamond. This diamond shape closely resembles the actual cutting stylus that is used to create the master record, resulting in a near perfect tracing of the record groove walls. The Contact Line Diamond has three times the contact area in the vertical direction of the groove wall lowering the force per unit area on both the diamond and the record groove, and resulting in lower record and diamond wear. This combination creates an ultra low mass system, capable of the finest reproduction from your cherished vinyl." And an accolade after an upgrade to the lesser CL stylus and Ruby cantilever: "I couldn't be happier with the SoundSmith re-tipping service on my Denon DL-103R cartridge. I opted for the Ruby/CL rebuild, and there is a very noticeable improvement from the stock stylus. Now I have to listen to all my records again to see what I've been missing!" Another review of the Shelter 501 MkII WITHOUT the Soundsmith upgrade: User510, Vinyl Asylum: "Right out of the box the Shelter sounded drop-dead gorgeous on my system. Even though there is mention of a break in period, I never experienced significant change in the tone of this cartridge due to any loosening up of it's internals. Most apparent is the liquidity, sweet melody and an alive sense of presence in the midrange. There is no overt coloration. The music is presented natural and alive. Vocals have richness and texture suggesting intimate proximity to the singer. In jazz recordings, the acoustic bass is revealed to be the vibrating, resonating wood box that it is. You get the edgy loose vibrations of the strings, the faster solid body of the note, the sound of the resonating wood box and a trail-off as the note dies slowly. Trumpets and sax's take on the individual character of the player. It's easy to differentiate between Coltrane or Mobley. Coltrane's tenor sax has a somewhat dissonant tone leaving a slight aftertaste in memory. Mobley's tenor is much sweeter and more typical of the instrument. The Shelter makes it easy and obvious to distinguish between the two players, allowing this listener to get closer and experience these two great masters. Percussion has speed of attack and crispness. When a drum stick strikes wood block, the sharp crack ricochet's off the wall behind me and vectors into the space before me. Cymbals ring out prominently, shimmering, resonating and hanging in air. Piano music. There have been moments when a full sized Grand Piano apparently crowded itself into my listening room. Usually this happens when I'm not listening intently, catching me off-guard. For me, this could be the Shelter's most striking attribute. It does acoustic piano surprisingly real. Ditto with the human voice." Specifications: output voltage: 0.4mV, stylus: elliptical Optimum Contour Nude Contact Line diamond cantilever: aluminium Ruby cantilever tracking force: 1.4g to 1.8g - 1.71g recommended by Peter Ledermann (Soundsmith) recommended load impedance: 100 ohms frequency response: 20hz to 20khz +- 2db separation (1khz): 35dB
