    • Price: AUD $4,500
    • Condition: Mint, like new
    • State: (NSW) New South Wales/Australia
I purchased this C-700u brand new and ran it for 12 to 18 months along with the Luxman M-700u power amp. The only reason I stopped using it was the opportunity to buy a second hand a Townshend Audio Allegri Reference preamp came up and I'd wanted to own one of these for several years, just couldn't afford a brand new one! The C-700u is a wonderful preamp in my opinion and as you can see from the photos this one is in mint condition. It is built with the same bulletproof and luxurious quality we've all come to expect from Luxman over the years. In the relatively short time I was using it it performed flawlessly. It comes with the original remote, remote cable and manual. For more details and specs please use this link: https://www.luxman.com/product/detail.php?id=20 Worth noting that although display looks a little dim in some of the photos that is to do with the pictures not the display itself. Display is sharp and crystal clear. More than happy to provide quotes for shipping if you need one. I have all the original packaging which is a triple box system so would be well protected if it is shipped. Also as you can see in photos it comes with all the original plastic input and output covers to keep dust out of the ones not being used. Reasonable offers will be considered but no low balls please. Happy to answer any questions you might have.

  2. Further Information: **open to negotiating a price for a serious buyer** An opportunity has presented and as a result, I need to sell my Luxman. I only took delivery of this beauty on Saturday 30th March after a 5 month wait. This one is not easy to part with however, it’s necessary. 3. Further Information: Precursor to the DA-150, this is an excellent little DAC and headphone amplifier, ideal for a desk setup or in a main HiFi system with speakers. There are two digital filters available that change the sound signature via a button on the front panel. Read more about it here: http://www.adventuresinhifiaudio.com/08/03/2015/luxman-da-100-digital-to-analogue-converter-good-things-in-small-packages/ Please note: There is a very minor crackle in the volume pot, only audible when moving volume up or down, usually around the halfway mark. Since the volume knob only works with the headphones, you won't have any issues if connecting the unit to an amp and speakers. There are some very minor cosmetic marks on the unit, visible in the photos. Postage is available Australia-wide, at the buyer's expense. There is no original box, but the unit will be packed very well. Auditions and local pick up available in Canberra, close to city centre.
  4. Salutations great people of the Steronet! I've run into an issue repairing an L-308 Luxman and require assistance. Some monster has replaced all of the transistors on the power board with the same BC type transistor. Unfortunately the power board is an updated PB-731A version and I can only find the schematic for the original PB-731. Does anyone have the appropriate schematic? Or a 308 with said 731A power board that they can provide me with what Q701-705 should be? Any and all assistance greatfully received. Many thanks and happy listening!
  5. Further Information: Up for sale, very rare Luxman preamp C-5000A. Japan only model fully featured preamp including a elaborate phonostage with MM-MC. Beautiful wood case. Japanese voltage 100v. You will need a step down transformer which can be provided at buyers cost. Any questions please feel free to ask. Thank you for your time.
  6. Hi All hope everyone is having a good Xmas break despite the weather! I am looking for a preamp for my Luxman m 900u, currently driving Dynaudio Contour 20s and Rel sub. Im using ps audio DSD as dac, preamp. It sounds very good but from what I read hear a preamp would take it to the next level. I can’t afford the new 10x preamp and c900us are few and far between so am considering a tube preamp between $5 and 10K. I read good things about Supratek preamps, ARC albeit ref series is a bit pricey? Does anyone have experience with Supratek preamps or other preamps which would be a good match for Luxman? Thanks!
  7. These things were made by Luxman just after the Alpine takeover, but I will wager that they were planned beforehand by Mr Miura. There's naff-all info about them on the web, but such as there is suggests that 250 pairs of monoblocks were made in 1984-85, retailing in Japan only at the then astronomical price of 1.1 million yen the pair, employing WE 300B tubes "specially selected for Lux Corporation". Everything about the way they are put together indicates unhurried quality. 30 years later they look like this on the outside, i.e. a bit dusty: Inside, they are like this: - apart from fragments of broken 300B, clean as a whistle. Luxman eccentricity being what it is, removal of the output tubes means removal of the wire cage. To do that, it's necessary to go in from below, where two screws (at 2 o'clock and 8 o'clock to the tube base upper left) tie the whole cage assembly to the top plate. To my eye they look better without them. And even without the right tubes, they do sound good ...
  8. So as part of the ongoing madness, I started looking into more about what my favourite Japanese manufacturer was up to in that period between the late 80s and a few years ago, when its fine goods began to appear once more in Oz. And one of the things it did (which as far as I know we never saw here) was develop a DAC on supposedly quite different principles from all others, which, whether involving oversampling or not, it says operate in the frequency domain. The propaganda about it says it operates in the time domain. (I always had an idea that music operates in the time domain, but I could be entirely wrong) Well, whatever, it knocked up this lump of metal in 1988, and at ¥400,000 it made a pretty pricey thing compared with my Audio Alchemy Dac-in-the-box of the time. So here's the rather large Luxman DA-07 (long-sold stock at our favourite on-line Japanese hardware store) using the fluency principle: Then, through further changes of proprietorship, the clever heads at Luxman realised that what we really need is a device that will play everything and also produce pictures - and it also has 2 DAC paths: shannon and fluency. Released 2001 at ¥880,000, the DU-10 is 25Kg of not terribly pretty metal,* but it by golly sounds good! I'll never be in a position to comment on its video capabilities, but it does CD and SACD mighty well. Has good connectivity - can run it as DAC or transport Pressing the little button here and igniting the red light results in a night and day blows into the weeds wipes the floor washes the dishes type listening experience I guess the difference I notice between the 2 DACs is more an EQ thing than anything else: the FE seems to lop off some of the top end, so fluencing out the more brittle sounding transients on the attack of piano, for example. But don't take my word for it: me ears are cactus and I know nothing of the theory behind it all. Re the last - I'd be glad to hear from George or someone who knows about these things whether the difference in approach is as fundamental as made out by the marketing dept. *No uglier than an Accuphase or Esoteric SACD player, though.
  9. Melbourne Audio Club monthly meeting - Omni Audio 8pm Wednesday 16th July, visitors welcome. Willis Room, City of Whitehorse Offices Maroondah Highway (Whitehorse Road), Nunawading Melway Map 48 Ref G9 Contact: 9437 1249 Omni Audio as the name implies, is a Victorian audio manufacturer who specialises in omni-directional speakers. With full range Lowther drivers in the four different models, they are described by their designer, Chris Maude as a simple, elegant design with real performance . "At Omni Audio, we build our enclosures from custom-made cylindrical tube. They are very strong and stiff, the walls have no flat surfaces and are therefore non-resonant. No bracing is required internally by our enclosures and sound waves have no obstruction to the port. Omni Audio speakers are configured with the driver in a vertical position at the top . At the bottom and top of the enclosures are the wave guides that produce the omnidirectional nature of the design. They are conical in shape and sit directly above the driver at the top and directly below the port at the bottom. They direct the sound waves from both driver and port on-axis to the listener, where ever they may be sitting. They will simply fill your room." Chris will bring two of his speakers for the club demonstration. The entry level model Euphony, which uses the Lowther PM6C driver, and sells for $2595, and his top model the Maestro. A 96 dB speaker that employs the Lowther DX3 driver, and retails for $3295. The speakers stand 83cm high and can be ordered in any colour. The electronics for the night will be a Luxman Integrated valve amplifier, and an OPPO 95 will be spinning the discs. Chris will also bring a T-Amp to demonstrate how easy it is to power his speakers with small amplifiers. The implementation of Lowther drivers in such an unusual configuration will be a very interesting night at the MAC. Simply not to be missed. 10. What did you learn today? I learned that in their new amps Luxman uses all curves on their circuit boards. They say its sounds better that way. Is it true? Dunno but they certainly look pretty. Very organic looking.
  11. Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with Luxman integrated amps from the 1970's. Specifically the SQ-505 and 507. They look amazing, but I have never heard one in the flesh. Even though I have heard generally good things about Luxman, I'm worried they might be all style and no substance. I'm also a little concerned about buying a 30-40 year old amp, but if they are well built (as a lot of things from that era are), then this would be less of an issue. Are there any things I should be looking out for when inspecting. And what kind of price range would be reasonable? Any other feedback or opinion would be great! Cheers!
  12. Well folks this has been a hoot of a week - within a week I have auditioned, then purchased and then setup a very pretty acquisition that Zipstartcanoe had in the classifieds. Yes a very gorgeous looking, awesome sounding Once Analogue TT with Ducs Univector Arm and a an Ortofon Cadenza Black Cart. Last night, I picked up some additional interconnects from James at Soundlabs, so I could connect up a Slee Elevator and Slee Phono Stage that I picked up from Keith at Vinyleye this morning. I must say this community of ours is awesome - every individual I have dealt with is passionate about this pursuit, personable and easy to get along with! For those of you who have been following me you will know this is connected up to a Pair of Vaf i66's, via a Luxman 550AX which is also fed by an Arcam FMJ CD37 and sits in a room that is a little small but acoustically treated to compensate, there are now too many brands of interconnects to mention hehe. I need to stop and listen for a few hundred hours at least now and preferably thousands because my mortgage has grown enough hehe. Some pics are below but when I eventually have a GTG I will get someone with a decent camera to do the honours for me - the iphone found a piano finish black polished TT with stainless steel platter etc way too challenging sorry. I also wanted to avoid the flash because of the all of the possible reflections and as you can see natural light would have back lit it way too much. I dont pretend to be a photographer - but I am now at least not pretending to be an audiophile of sorts! I will post some more impressions of it all once it has all had a chance to run in but at this point in time I will say 'bury me with my records' as they are as close to nirvana I have got to date! A few shots of the TT. The Slee Gear and Controller for the TT. The whole shebang! From the listening position. Cheers! Max.
  13. Hi all, I thought it about time to share my humble little setup since she's finally up and running. I've been grinning ear to ear all arvo just listening to the FM bandwidth and a couple of Lps. This is the first money I've spent on Audio since the $40 I shelled out on a Sansui 331, rubbish Onkyo speakers and JVC QL-A2 4 years ago. The upgraded system us now: Luxman L-85v or an L100 Luxman T-88v tuner Thorens TD160mkii Tannoy Cheviots 12' (HDP315a drivers) Not the most high fidelity system, however it sounds great to an untrained ear such as mine. Cheers for having a read Dave
  14. Further information: Used Luxman DA-06 DAC in very good condition. Unit constructed very well and heavy duty, 11+ kgs. Backplate is also aluminium plate, not your typical stamp steel plate. Unit bought in mid 2016 and working for all inputs/outputs. This is personal unit, I am not a reseller. Take good care of my equipments all the time. Check out the pictures, all connectors not oxidize as protected by original caps. Can negotiate but do not lowball. Appreciate it. 15. Further Information: I have owned this beautiful piece of audio art for just over a year now. Purchased brand new in August 2022 from Class A Audio in Melbourne, comes with original packaging and paperwork. There was a 10 month wait on Luxman amps at the time due to covid. It was well worth the wait! The sound is so fluid and effortless. This amp has impeccable control over the speakers. More than enough juice to drive even the most demanding speakers. I am very hesitant to be selling but I would like to try separates and possibly also tube gear.
  16. Item: Luxman LV111 Integrated Amplifier Location: Melbourne, Northern Suburbs Price: $70 Item Condition: Fair - Notes Below Reason for selling: Not being used Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal Extra Info: Vintage Luxman amp from early 90's. Nice, smooth sound. AUX input, however, is softer on one channel. Always been the case since I bought it. Doesn't bother me because I've always used the CD input, particularly because it has the option to bypass tone control. There's a scratch on the top of the facia from previous owner. Happy to post at buyer's risk and expense. 45W @8ohm 2 Channels Speaker A + B Pictures:
  17. Further Information: Luxman Class A L550 AX II Integrated Amp and remote - in immaculate condition. The unit was purchased from Frank Prowse end October 2022, and still has the remaining Luxman warranty (3 years from date of purchase). I also have the original box and packaging materials. Local sale preferred, but can ship if required (shipping costs and risks born by the buyer). Luxman Class A amplifiers are increasingly difficult to source, as Luxman has reportedly ceased production of both the L550 and L590 AX II. Those of you that have heard Class A, will know how rich, detailed and dynamic it sounds. This is the closest thing I have heard to tube amplification in my system. The unit puts out 40 Watts into 4 ohms and 20 Watts into 8 ohm. Don't be fooled by the modest wattage, as this amp has some serious presence and dynamics. For detailed technical specs, please refer to the Luxman website www.luxman.com Many reviews available online including the one from Zero Fidelity below www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_bVWoMlfR4
