  1. Klapp Audio Visual in Chapel Street are holding a free launch event for the JBL Synthesis speaker range with a number of sessions open through out the day. A speaker from JBL will be in attendance for each session which run for 90 minutes. The sessions include demonstrations featuring the Studio 590 system, LS80 System and finally the Synthesis home theatre speakers. The sessions are quite limited so that attendees can experience the speakers without too much distraction. There will be refreshments for each session also. You can register for the event here at http://klappav.com.au/events
  2. Item: Jaycar AA-0508 350W Subwoofer Amp Location: Sunbury, Victoria Price: Free Item Condition: Not Working Reason for giving away: This was a fantastic sub-woofer amp. Then one day I plugged both RCA plugs and speaker cable in at the same time and it has never worked since. Just tried it again now and I still can't get sound. It does power on just fine, but makes a lot of crackling noise through the speaker when adjusting the volume. Makes no noises through the speaker when adjusting the frequency levels. I figure that someone with electronics knowledge could fix it instead of me throwing it in the bin. PM me to get pickup details.
  3. Item: Sony STR-DB940 Surround Sound Receiver Location: Brisbane Price: free Extra Info: I purchased this receiver in 2001 and have been using it until recently when it developed an intermittent fault. It still works but occasionally goes into protection mode when the rear surround speakers are hooked up and active. Prior to this a loud pop is heard, so I presume there is some kind of electrical short or similar occurring within the unit. With the rear speakers disabled the receiver functions without issue. Cosmetically it is in excellent condition. A link to the owners manual is provided below. Pick up only from Holland Park West. https://docs.sony.com/release/strdb940.pdf
  4. Items: 7 tuners of vintage age Location: melbourne western suburbs Price: free you pay freight and a SNA donation Item Condition: working order, with notes as given under each tuner's photos. Lids lifted: if you really want, I can photograph the inside of a particular tuner Original boxes: no. These do not have original boxes. Options: if you need these things and you don't see them in the photos, then ask me: power cord; a little wire aerial; a rectangualr plastic aerial. Reason for selling: too many tuners Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Bank deposit Packing: single box in plenty of padding I have seven tuners to go to 7 good homes of StereoNET members. The tuners are free and most have been listened to by David "Ears" @@djb, a regular critic and tuner enthusiast on SNA's tuner pagers, those times when he isn't welcoming new arrivals to SNA or starting ornate threads in the Chill Out Room. djb's opinions are given under each tuner. If you want a tuner, all you need to say which one you want, and that you have made a donation to SNA recently and that you will pay for freight. When you've made the donation doesn't matter, nor how much. It could even be after you've read this thread. All I ask is that you say that you've been a SNA donor. (I have no way to check, by the way.) SNA donor link is here [click me now] Freight: freight is at cost or free, depending: 'At cost' involves me contacting TransDirect Couriers who give the cheapest price, I send the details to you, and you pay me. I am not charging for postage, packing or my time. 'Free' involves you arranging to meet me for pick up of your tuner from Melbourne CBD, St Kilda Rd or Western Suburbs. Why ask about donations: because the alternative would mean saying this free tuners offer is open only to SNA members who have been on the boards a while, eg people who made a certain number posts, but that doesn't recognise lurkers and others who feel engaged but are shy or see no reason to post. Pictures: Here's all the tuners except the Marantz: Akai AT-A102 djb: "will it work outside other components? Antenna In does not take my cable? Untested". I think I have the rest of the components to create a retro system somewhere. this looks very clean. AKAI AT-K110 djb: "Great bass. No presets = dial." Marantz ST 30 djb: "An ordinary performer." I paid $20 for this from another SNA member to stop it from going to the tip. It needs a tuning knob. It's quite elderly. Pioneer F-204 djb: "great reception. clean looking. auto tune AM FM. 8 memory preset. Treble gets a big tick. Limited bass extension." Pioneer TX-555ZA Has an uncommon interconnect format. Is part of a complete system, if you like the look and want the entire system then ask. Not reviewed by djb. TEAC - TX-550 @@djb: "Dial to tune. Get no sound. Good sound. Clear good treble. Good bass." EDITED TO SAY: initially I got no sound on FM. Then flicking back and forth between AM and FM the FM arrived. Upon the arrival of the sound, @djb 's comments about the sound quality hold true. FM is excellent, really clear. There's a bit of off-station static on AM but I didn't use an AM aerial so what do you expect. With the FM aerial this is as clear as a bell and I now wonder why I'm giving this away. Technics (Panasonic) ST-Z250 Not listened by djb. My tuner from 1984 until I replaced it with a Sansui. I was very happy with this but it has a dial rather than push button.

  8. Please don't forget to check the Classifieds Guidelines before posting this classified ad. You many delete this text from your advertisement. Item: Yaqin MS 12B Tube phono preamp Location: Southern Gold Coast Price: Free Item Condition: as new Reason for selling: upgrade Extra Info: Several years ago this phono preamp was discussed on this forum and several members purchased one. It was dirt cheap direct from Hong Kong and I was looking for a temporary replacement for my preamp, which required repairs. It worked, but there was a hum that apparently others were able to overcome, but I couldn't. I'm clearing out the closets so if you have one and want spare parts or if you simply want something to play with It's yours if you don't mind picking it up in Currumbin Waters, QLD. Otherwise it's headed for the electronics recycling tip at Merrimac.

  13. Item(s): Apogee Groove Professional DAC Package includes: Everything as original. Warranty: Local Authorized Set ( Not Grey Import, 1year to zero warranty) Age of item: Few Months Old. Item(s) conditions:Like Brand New.Flawless. At 20hrs Burn in process.. Reason for sale:Underutilized Retail Price: $430 Selling Price: $240 This has a smooth, large soundstage and good amount of detail. The most surprising aspect about it is its ability to drive 600 ohm headphones! Basically, it can power all high impedance headphones. This is an excellent startup source for HD650/600/700, R70X , DT880 and others. It is probably the cheapest DAC/AMP solution that can power those headphones. This is including comparison to desktop solutions!
  14. Item: Vintage Sansui AU-2900 Integrated amplifier Location: Norwood, SA Price: Giveaway to good home (+ $10 donation to Stereo.net.au) Item Condition: Fair to poor, needs repair Reason for selling: Not used due to fault Payment Method: N/A Extra Info: Purchased from Ebay 10 years ago, sounded fine except for an intermittent fault which caused the right channel to occasionally emit a burst of full power distortion; this appeared to be unrelated to the music being played or the volume level set. Turning the amp off and on again stopped the distortion and it often wouldn't come back for week or so. A friend looked over it but couldn’t immediately identify the problem. Because of the fault I have been reluctant to use it so has sat in a cupboard ever since. The unit powers on and Phono/Tuner/Aux inputs all appear to work fine through headphones. However there is moderate intermittent static in the headphones, independent of the channel input/volume and the static in the LHS appears unrelated to the static in the RHS. The front panel is relatively clean but as you can see there's some rust on the inside, including on some components, it was this way when purchased. The cover was in average condition and a friend sandblasted and powder-coated it, it acquired a few marks while in storage. Unfortunately the screws holding down the cover have gone missing. So basically it needs a fair bit of work! Giveaway to good home (but with $10 donation to Stereo.net.au) if you think you may be able to use/repair this amp and give it the love and attention it needs!
