I heard the Shindo Latife field coil speakers recently and thought the sound was beguiling. It was like a pair of good electrostatics but with tight and tuneful bass. I would like to share other members experience and knowledge of field coil speakers.

Further Information: I purchased these Aero 10 Rullit Telefunken field coils from Oleg new a few months ago. The boxless full range driver is truly breathtaking! I was really taken by the amount of bass that this 10" driver can reproduce. Voices and instruments resolve way behind the drivers allowing the speakers to disappear. I had the intention of building a permanent OB enclosure or front loaded horn. I do have the plans for the Siemens open baffle and the square front loaded horn from Oleg. The example of Andy Moore's Rullit Open baffle review here: https://jeffsplace.positive-feedback.com/meditations-on-high-fidelity-andy-moore-shares-his-audio-insights-from-the-land-down-under/ is what sold me. An example of Oleg's front loaded horn image is attached. The power supply and open baffle cabinet pictured are not included. Recommendations from Oleg: "A pair of AERO 10 field coil full range speakers - a must-have for the reproduction of unplugged instruments, as played in acoustic jazz or whatever kind of chamber music, and the reproduction of the human voice in opera or musical. In that construction we have used pre war original Telefunken field coils, highly matched - two pieces from approx. 40. They are suitable to play in open back cabinets, open baffles and front loaded horns. In a 2-way combination they are fine for all kinds of music including rock and full sized orchestras. Here are some technical facts: The outside diameter is 250 mm, 7.3 ohms voice coils, 1.7 kohms field coils (high matched original Telefunken), 160 VDC max, Fs 40Hz free air, 32Hz on a front loaded horn. The weight is 4.8kg each. Breath taking sounding drivers. * * * To add a few more thoughts on this matter, I would suggest to compare a ferrit magnet to mere tap water, an AlNiCo to the kind of premium mountain water being offered in supermarkets, whereas field coil represents the water you take directly from its origin somewhere in the woods - refreshing and rich in taste. Just close your eyes and try to imagine their undoubtedly different qualities." Example front loaded horn design below:
