My Matrix Audio x-SPDIF2 is up for sale. This is in excellent condition - not having moved from my shelf other than to set up and now to take photos. I've used this connected via USB to my MacBook and then utilising the IIS port to connect to my PS Audio Direct Stream Dac. A great combination that worked well that should also suit may setups. Im not sure im posting this in the right forum, but here it goes. I want to connect my turntable (mm cartridge) to my essentially digital only system comprising an Oppo 105 and Bel Canto Evo2 amplifiers. Could anyone please peovide any suggestions as to the most effective way of doing this? Thanks in advance Lars

I plugged it in for the first time today to test that it was working before I put it up for sale, and was surprised by how excellent it sounds. It's really very good, much better than I expected and much better than a budget CD transport IMO. It's also better sounding than the Cambridge Audio digital dock that I had for a while. Some notes on its condition: there are a couple of small marks on the unit that you can see if you look closely when the light is on the right angle, however these are minor and you won't see them at any reasonable distance. Also, I don't know if the remote works - I assume it does, but I don't have a battery to test it with. The power supply looks to be a bit dodgy, but it works absolutely fine -- the pins are not on quite the right angle so you have to give it a bit of a wiggle to get it to fit the wall-socket (or I had to anyway). It is a standard 5v 1a supply so could be easily replaced with something better if you wanted to. As far as compatibility goes: I tried it with my iPhone 4 and that worked fine. I also tried it with an iPod Classic and that worked fine too. The cable that is closest to, sound-wise, is the Wireworld Starlight, but the QED offers more air and detail, as well as a more propulsive bass. This is QED's top digital cable, and while you can do better (Nordost Silver Shadow and above, Wireworld Silver Starlight and above in particular) you have to spend a great deal more to do it. I'm only moving this along because I need a different length now.
