Bought brand new and used for about 2 years - now packed in boxes and ready for the new owner as I have upgraded. British designed excellent floor-standing pair. Specs are below ( links) PM for any queries. Pick up is preferred as these are heavy. Please note: This ad is only for the floor standers. Centre speaker in the photo is already sold. https://www.visionhifi.com.au/speakers/bowers--wilkins-cm9-series-2-ex-demo-rosenut/pid-uf https://www.digitalcinema.com.au/bowers-wilkins-cm9-s2-floorstanding-speakers-pair.html https://www.digitalcinema.com.au/media/digitalcinema/product-spec/BW-CM9-S2-Speakers/BW-CM9-S2-Speakers-Spec.pdf
  1. Looking for a pair of B&W speaker stands. Ideally piano black. Ideally in Perth. Ideally with boxes. Looking for “like new”. $500 for 700 series $800 for 800 series
  2. Subwoofer is very powerful but compact, best of both worlds
  3. Further Information: Selling my belove B&W 705 Signature with B&W FS700-S2 in excellent condition, I was in the box since I got new speaker and I have bigger room. No scratch and again in mint condition. Bought from Len Wallis Audion in NSW.
  4. Selling my…Bowers & Wilkins 702 S3 Floor Standing Speakers I have decided to go a slightly different direction with my system, and have to move the speakers on. The speakers are extremely musical and I have thoroughly enjoyed them in my humble system. They have a level of musicality not usually found in speakers at this price point. I ran them in a 2 channel/ HT system with Rotel Michi X5 and Marantz Cinema 40 with a variety of different sources. And they always impressed. 3-way design…1 x 25mm De-coupled carbon tweeter 1 x 150mm Midrange drivers 3 x 165mm Bass drivers Sensitivity 90dB Power requirements 30-300 Watts These speakers are less than 12 months old and present as brand new. I have all the original packaging that is in pristine condition. The fussiest buyer would not be able to criticise the speakers. I am happy to deliver these myself in the Melb Metro area and can freight to other states at no charge.
  5. Further Information: UK designed, B&W CM9 S2 pair is for a quick sale due to upgrade - The drivers are in immaculate condition. Used only for a couple of years. Bought brand new from Digital Cinema (Brisbane) in Dec 2019 Comes form a non smoking, no pets home. Completed with original spikes (never used) and rubber feet. Pick up is from Vermont (3133) More info can be found here: https://www.visionhifi.com.au/speakers/bowers--wilkins-cm9-white/pid-nu
  6. Evening gents. I just purchased a SVS Sb-2000 subwoofer to go with my Rotel RA-1592 and B&W603 S2 (non-anniversary edition) which I use exclusively for music. My question is around managing the crossover frequency cutover point. The Rotel doesn't have crossover management on the amp. I currently have the Rotel sub-out connected to the LFE plug on the SVS (using a single RCA cable), with the sub set to 80hz. I feel like I've got 2 sub-optimal choices: Set the sub crossover lower, to say 40hz so there's minimal overlap between the sub and speakers Or keep it at 80hz and ignore the overlap Is this something to be concerned about, and if so, is there an easy/cheap fix? If not a concern, is there a preference either way? It seems the Rotel is mainly suited as a 2.0 and not a 2.1, but keen to hear views/potential fixes because I otherwise love this amp. Also worth noting this is being used in an 8x6m glass heavy open plan living area. Many thanks,

  10. For Sale: B&W Nautilus 802 Floorstanding Speakers - The Symphony of Acoustic Mastery Introducing the iconic B&W Nautilus 802 Floorstanding Speakers: where design meets auditory perfection. A true testament to B&W's relentless pursuit of pure, unadulterated sound, the Nautilus 802 stands tall as a beacon for music enthusiasts and purists. Ever since I first laid ears on it, the 802 has remained my trusted companion and absolute favourite in the realm of audio. Every single time I listen, it never fails to astonish me, delivering peak performance that feels as though the very air around me is being transformed by a touch of sonic sorcery. Over the years, I've been an avid collector, owning and experimenting with a myriad of speakers. While many have come and gone, playing brief roles in my auditory journey, the 802 has held its ground, steadfast and unyielding. None have truly managed to surpass or even match its caliber. It's not just another speaker for me; the 802 is the gold standard, my personal benchmark for sound. Each note it produces resonates with memories and moments that are deeply personal to me. I genuinely hope that whoever ends up buying this speaker can cherish it and enjoy its impeccable sound as deeply and fondly as I have. Key Features & Specialities: Tweeter on top: B&W's Tweeter on top technology ensures that the sound remains focused and time-sensitive and that the stereo-image is presented with unparalleled three-dimensional accuracy. Kevlar®: B&W developed and patented the method of using Kevlar® for loudspeaker cones to reduce unwanted standing waves. DuPont originally created Kevlar® for use in bulletproof vests. Flowport™: Golf ball aerodynamics theory points the way towards lower distortion reflex ports. Dimples improve the way the air flows over the surface of any object. In the case of reflex ports, they offer a significant improvement over simply flaring the port ends in reducing air flow turbulence at each end of the port; so you get less chuffing noise and less compression at high sound levels. Matrix™: The basic construction of nearly all loudspeakers is exactly the same -panels of wood-based materials, bonded to form a rectangular box. B&W studied and evaluated how each aspect of cabinet behaviour and the efficiency of various materials and construction methods affects sound. 16. I have B&W 803Diamond tweeter floor speakers and running them off a Denon 150WRMS 7.1 amp does not sound good! Should I bi-amp it by using this amp, or what stereo amp do you recommend to bring these to life? They need lots of power to drive them properly…. One reviewer suggested a MusicalFidelity 550rms stereo amp… I have lost interest in home theatre and have rekindled my love of stereo…
  17. Hey, I have got my hands on a pair of B&W DM645 floor tower speakers with two bass drivers. Only problem is that one of the bass drivers in one of the speakers is missing. It is a 8†polypropylene cone ZZ8915 driver. Is there a driver that would match closely to the original or would anyone have a spare? Thanks
  18. Two pieces of dialogue for you, as heard last week between me and a friend, and taken a day apart. "Did you bring the B&W's?" "Yes. I can't understand how you can bear living with the KEFs when the tweeters are shot." "Well. I can't. I mean, the bass is great..." "With no tweeters you'd have to say that." "No, even way back when I was buying and auditioning it was what decided me. I went for the lovely warm full KEF bass sound." "You'll like the highs and midrange on the B&Ws, especially after having no tweeters. It'll be a shock. Anyway, sorry to dump and run, but gotta go..." "How'd they go?" "Well, the mids and highs are wonderful. I can hear triangles again! The definition of the B&Ws is great! But the bass is... " "Polite?" "Try 'non-existent'. But try this! It's U2's 'Numb'. Best song on the album." "Oooh, all sorts of nice things lurking quietly in the left channel. The bass is superb, too." "Yes. The difference between rock and pop is that rock has a sense of danger. The B&Ws on their own turned my rock music into pop. I needed the KEF bass. I had to have it." "That really does sound good." "Best of both worlds, once I hooked up the KEF's and the B&W's together. I can't hear any timing issues, nothing at all, I'm surprised! I just did it, and it's all come together like a dream."
  19. So iv been reading through some of the threads in this section, and almost didn't bother posting after seeing some of the amazing gear out there. but i thought i should at least post after searching for KEF in here without getting a single hit.... i might have something to add after all. so with apologies.... here it is.... I have: KEF XQ Five mains in graphite.
  20. Hello everyone, I am new to Hi-Fi but am just assembling my first (entry-level) serious system. I just bought a Rotel RA-1520 integrated amplifier and now I am on the lookout for a set of bookshelf speakers that would be a good match. This is for a 10m x 3.6m x 3m quite dead (mostly carpeted) open-plan space. The lady of the house has dictated that floorstanders are not an option. Ultimately I would also be looking to add a subwoofer to the mix to adequately cover the bass. At the moment I am just using a Pro-ject DAC box for input which I will also upgrade down the track. I was thinking to spend $AUD1000-1500 but could stretch to $2000 if there is a significant and justifiable increase in quality. I know that the only way to pick speakers is by auditioning them which I plan to do shortly. However, it would be very helpful to have a list of vetted options on which to focus. There is an incredible number of different options out there. It would also be helpful to get an Australian perspective given the different pricing and availability here. So far I've only listened to the Polk LSiM703 which I thought were excellent. A lot of people talk about B&W being a good match for Rotel (685, CM1, CM5). From other forums, KEF (Q300, R300, R100, LS50), Dynaudio (Excite X12, DM 2/6, DM 2/7), ATC (SCM11) and PMC (DB1i, twenty .21/.22) have also been recommended, though the latter are a little out of my league. If anyone could share their experiences with the above or suggest any other options, it would be very much appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Kind regards, Nick
  21. All, So I took my barely used B&W 686's out of surround duties and set them up with a Rotel RA-04SE Integrated to perform 2 channel duties in another room. At last I have been able to give them a proper listen, and while they are Ok, they are bit too warm for my liking. Its not the amp, as I auditioned it with a couple of other speakers and it performed well with the better B&W Bookshelf (685) and Klipsch floorstander. I like detail and soundstage - thats why I LOVE listening to my Ascension Summoner floorstanders. So, I am going to look around for a replacement for this wee bookshelf. Any recommendations for auditioning? Willing to spend up to $800. I hear the Ushers and Mordaunt Short are worth a look? I did audition the B&W 685, and loved the sound. That would be my default choice, but perhaps I can get equivalent performance cheaper? Ideally, I would still like to have a bookshelf for the acceptance factor. Cheers, Neil PS - Anyone want to buy a pair of barely used B&W 686s? I'll be putting an EOI up soon. PM me if interested.
  22. Melbourne Audio Club monthly meeting - Bluesound - Not Your Average Wireless Multizone Audio 8pm Wednesday 21st October, visitors welcome. Willis Room, City of Whitehorse Offices Maroondah Highway (Whitehorse Road), Nunawading Melway Map 48 Ref G9 Contact: 9437 1249 The designers at NAD and PSB have come up with a brilliant solution to the problem of high-res, whole-house audio that combines superb sound reproduction with twenty-first century connectivity. With six models in the Bluesound Gen 2 line up, the brands products are a significant step-up from Sonos and Bose, with all models capable of 24-bit/192 kHz music decoding and playback. This month's meeting we will have Convoy, the distributors for Bluesound, demonstrating two of their products. The Power Node 2 ($1499) and Vault 2 ($1999) both units offer similar functionality. Streaming audio from computers and NAS drives, Internet Radio and cloud -streaming services such as Tidal. The Power Node 2 streamer/amplifier uses Direct Digital amplifier technology, developed by NAD, to deliver 60W per channel. Speakers can be connected directly to the unit to create a room 'zone', all controlled with your tablet or smartphone. The star of the Bluesound line up is the Vault 2, a CD ripper with 2TB of storage built in, with the ability to rip CDs in bit-perfect lossless FLAC without the need for a computer. It can search music from NAS drives or USB connected hard drives, as well as play back music to an existing Hi-Fi system via its stereo outputs or a coaxial digital out. With the Bluesound app and a tablet, you have the capability to add to your high-res music collection by downloading directly from Highresaudio Online Stores onto the Vaults hard drive. Convoy will put together a system comprising of B&W speakers, a pair of CM6 S2s and the matching 10 inch subwoofer. The Bluesound system will demonstrate how mature this form of audio has become - the wireless transmission of music was once viewed as a novelty - it is now possible to do music over Wi-Fi up to 24-bit/96kHz, better than CD. With the slogan 'Hi-Fi never went away, it just never went wireless' Bluesound will appeal to a new group of audiophiles, will that be you?
