  1. I have had a ZP3 Zen Triode Phonostage on order since the start of Feb, bit of an impulse purchase and going by their tracking sheet it is still a bit off starting. If you are looking at purchasing I would say a realistic wait time would be 10-12 months.
  2. That was deal breaker for me when I found that out after doing a bit of research a little while ago. Hopefully its still a great TV though.
  3. One of the things I enjoy most about music is finding a new artist ( new to me that is). The most recent being Fink and his album Wheels turn beneath my feet. I also find that one of the most productive parts of reviews are the particular songs they test with. This is where I have found some great artists. Another was on one of John Darko's reviews, Smog and their album Knock Knock, and from this Bill Callahan's solo stuff. I find myself reading reviews as much for the music suggestions as anything.
  4. Thanks mate, do you take requests....Open baffles and valves please.
  5. This is probably my favourite forum thread, thanks mwhouston for the constant updates. I am currently obsessing over the Pure Audio Project Quintet 15. Keep the pics coming.....
  6. Don't get me wrong it sounds great for music, just wanting a bit more that's all. I was lucky to get mine for $2k from Premium Sound down here in St Kilda, I didn't realise they had gone up in price. I think it sounds best in the wall mount orientation as opposed to flat on a cabinet. You can get some great covers from a company called Skiniplay, also there is a company that makes a mount for standing it up on a cabinet as opposed to lying it down (STB brackets).
  7. I have owned a stage for over twelve months now and it has been great as a soundbar. However I wish B&O had incorporated the option of connecting a wireless sub to it, as it would have been a great option. I think they wanted to market it to a different customer, however for customers like myself who wants a bit more it just means I will look elsewhere rather than expanding with the brand. Pro: Sound is great, app works well (you can customise sound profiles) and it does look sleek. Con: Expensive
  8. Love to see the look on your wife's face when you bring the Monuments home....
  9. Further information: Purchased from Adelaide speakers in February this year, look and sound great but unfortunately not suitable. They are in the Blackwood Veneer with the Artisan Cabinet upgrade. I have the original boxes so could ship if buyer was happy to organise. Info from Adelaide speakers website: Cabinet: 1120h x 300w x 415d transmission line 100 litres Power Handling: 140 wrms Nominal Impedance: 8 ohms Frequency Response: 26 -- 30,000 Hertz +/-2dB Sensitivity: 96dB 1w/1m Drivers: 10 inch professional super efficient long throw woofer with double magnet; 160 mm efficient ultra smooth and detailed non-inductive midrange; efficient smooth large 28mm wave guide dome tweeter Description: At last, a full range large audiophile quality super efficient speaker for low powered valve amplifiers. This speaker will produce a similar output at 10 watts and 8 ohms as many other speakers would at 50 watts, and do that with no restrictions in bass extension, impact, transience, voicing, air, crispness, sound-stage or reality. These are very unique speakers, especially at this price. A high class Transmission Line valve gem. 10. Hey Dennis as I am new to all of this, take anything I say with a grain of salt. I first auditioned a pair of Osborn Eclipse Reference speakers late last year (RRP approx $7k) so on a different level. Anyway after hearing those I was impressed by the bass they provided, however I was unwilling to jump in at that price for my first pair of 'real' speakers. So I started looking around and found this forum and then Ascension speakers. I bit the bullet and thought a $2300 outlay was more sensible and purchased the Valve Series V1093 in Blackwood veneer with the Artisan cabinet upgrade. As mentioned above Edward was great to communicate with (both email and phone) and I received them maybe three weeks after ordering. Very exciting, opened them up, they looked great, big, but very nice. I hooked them up to my recently purchased Weston Acoustics Valve amp and started playing. As I said Clarity and imaging were the stand out features but big bass output wasn't. I thought back to my Osborn audition and I will admit to being a little disappointed initially, bit I persevered. After listening to a few more albums I realised it wasn't the speakers that were at fault, it was my lack of experience in listening to a good quality amplifier/speaker combo. I have only had cheap home theatre systems or soundbars to base any judgement on. I did keep coming back to the bass though, and then I thought back to the audition and realised that at the time the Osborn speakers were cranked right up, much louder than I would normally listen and I was sitting quite close. Also the amp used was a $4k Consonance valve amp, a significant step up from my (still great sounding) Weston amp. This all added up to an unfair comparison between the two. With this new insight I started to appreciate the speakers the more I played them, at normal listening levels the bass is tight and musical. I never really cranked them up and they only have around 25 hours on them. I am moving them on as I got caught up in a friends enthusiasm for floor standers and didn't really think about my own personal taste or situation. Hope this helps. Thanks Jamie
  11. Hey Dennis I recently purchased a pair of Ascension Valve Series speakers from Edward at the start of the year (the larger of the three). I paired them with a Weston Acoustics 20w per channel valve amplifier. It was my first hifi purchase. The two characteristics that stand out from my brief time with them so far would be the clarity of the music being played and the image that they present. Edward was easy to deal with. There is an Ascension owners thread here that has plenty of positive feedback on dealing with Adelaide speakers. Unfortunately for me they don't suit my current situation (my fault not the speaker) and I will be listing them in the classifieds here. Regards Jamie
