  1. Further information: Walker CJ55 Turntable, Alphason HR-100S tonearm. I have owned this turntable and tonearm from new, I purchased them in the mid 80's. Until now I have been unable to bring myself to part with it, but here goes. The Turntable: Designed by Colin Walker, the CJ55 is a British made belt drive, floating sub-chassis (similar to Linn Sondek and Ariston models) turntable available in the early 1980’s. The Walker turntable features a floating sub-chassis and separate removable arm-board, powered by a synchronous motor. The motor isn't what was then the standard Airpac but a Swiss made low torque model. It is thought that Colin Walker once distributed Linn in the early days, which would explain why the decks are similar. The platter and sub platter are machined from a very dense organic material called “Tufnol” which was used extensively at the time in heavy engineering. The spindle bearing employs a hardened steel shaft in a high-strength bronze bearing which runs on a central thrust ball. The whole assembly is in pristine condition. Rumble is reportedly subdued at -31db unweighted and spectrum analysis of the rumble components revealed that all were infrasonic. Weight 11.5kg. The Tonearm: This is a rare Alphason (UK) HR-100S tonearm in excellent operational and cosmetic condition. Fastidiously handcrafted by Mike Knowles in 1983, it's a deceptively simple, elegant looking design. It is made of tool grade steel and, in an engineering masterstroke, pure, beautifully worked titanium for the tonearm wand. The head shell is entirely integral, being "merely" formed from the pressed end of the armtube, which is further stiffened by another thin titanium bedplate. Knowles famously offered a free tonearm to anyone who could bend the arm by hand (none could) and its combination of lightness and rigidity remain unsurpassed. The hardened steel gimbals of the rear end enclose super high quality ceramic bearings and VTF is adjusted via a rear main counterweight (nylon-sleeve-on-nylon-shaft for superior damping, precise placement and is virtually impossible to wear out. VTF arm pillar height is adjusted via a hex head bolt. Anti-skate is by string and weight, ingeniously captive in a vertical guide beside the also-excellent hydraulic arm lift, which is silky smooth in operation. Fit and finish of the tonearm is exquisite and the satin, faintly bronze lustre of the handmade, one-piece wand against the silver and flat black of its accompanying hardware is captivating. Sonically it's still a world-beater, exhibiting breathtaking poise, agility, pace and detail. Effective length is 229mm, overhang 18mm (spindle to pivot 211mm) and effective mass is 11 grams. I have owned both the turntable and the tonearm from new and they are both in excellent condition. They have never been tampered with in any way, being stored away since about 1990. Includes the original boxes, packaging, instructions and accessories for both the turntable and the tonearm and an unused armboard which could be used to mount an alternative tonearm if needed. Overall condition is excellent, as can be seen by the photos, the perspex cover and hinges are perfectly sound and in good condition. Please PM me if interested. Photos:
  2. Further information: I have for sale my Bel Canto CD2-CD Player, VB-3.5 DAC, VBS-1 Power Supply. This system was recommended to me by an audiophile who I trust and respect. This is a virtually unbeatable combination which includes the Bel Canto DAC 3.5VB, the Bel Canto CD2 CD Player (with the Phillips CDPro2LF CD reader) and the highly regarded Bel Canto VBS-1 Power Supply (as opposed to the less expensive and single component powering LNS1). The CD player and the DAC both operate from the single virtual battery supply and the VBS-1 is also able to power a third component. The DAC has a defeat-able volume control so if you have a digital front end only, it can be used as a pre-amp. I purchased the VBS-1 and DAC 3.5VB only three years ago from a dealer as new old stock, the CD2 was purchased at the same time and was the dealers demo unit. All three items present as new, there are no marks or scratches anywhere on them. During ownereship I had a home renovation which lasted eight months and an overseas trip for a further two months, during which this system was in storage. I am a vinyl guy so this setup has probably only had a couple of hundred hours use. The sound of this combination is exceptional, so quiet and detailed that it just takes me aback whenever I turn it on. I think that this is attributable to the Virtual Battery Supply, read more about it here: https://hometheaterhifi.com/press-releases/bel-canto-unveil-the-vbs-the-virtual-battery-supply/ This was meant to be my last CD player, but you know how it is! There are lots of positive reviews online about this combination. My asking price is about one third of the original recommended retail price and much less than the current replacements. The components present as new. Reviews: https://6moons.com/audioreviews/belcanto/cd2.html https://www.stereophile.com/content/bel-canto-eone-dac35vb-da-converter http://stereotimes.com/CD022212.shtml https://hometheaterhifi.com/press-releases/bel-canto-unveil-the-vbs-the-virtual-battery-supply/ I will separate these components if there is sufficient individual interest in all three items. Interconnects are not included, the two umbilical power cords which connect both the DAC and CD Player to the VBS-1 power supply are included. The components include instructions (except for the CD-2). I have the original double box packaging, so shipping is not out of the question at the purchasers expense. There are two original Bel Canto remote controls, one of them unused. There are two power supplies which can be used instead of the VBS-1. Photos:
  3. Fabulous speakers and you are right, very hard to beat for the money!

  5. Further information: I have recently made a significant and impulsive HiFi purchase and so, knee jerk reaction, I think that I need to sell something! The items that I have listed are for expressions of interest and I apologise in advance if I change my mind and decide not to sell this item. I have here a very nice VPI Aries III turntable complete with 2" acrylic platter, acrylic/aluminium laminated plinth and outboard 240v turntable motor. Also, I have brought in from the U.S.A. a NOS (new old stock) 10" VPI JMW Memorial Tonearm. This is beautifully engineered from stainless steel and aluminium, it is a highly regarded and reputedly well damped tonearm. Perhaps I am old fashioned, but this appeals to me more than the currently available plastic 3D printed arms. This is an early model arm without the azimuth ears attached to the azimuth ring (the azimuth is adjustable). The arm includes the adjustable VTA base and has the oil dampened uni-pivot. The turntable is pre-drilled for the 10" tonearm, so it should be just a matter of installing the arm, adding a cartridge and away you go. I would prefer local pickup however shipping will be considered but it will probably be expensive due to size and weight. My price is firm as I am simply looking to recoup what it has cost me so far. Please PM me if you are interested. Photos:
  6. Further information: I have for sale 98 (Qty) "Blake" style inner sleeves. These are the heavy duty 90 micron, as opposed to the regular 40 micron sleeves. They are brand new and are left over from a recent record cleaning frenzy. Price includes shipping to any Australian location. Photos:

The items that I have listed are for expressions of interest and I apologise in advance if I change my mind and decide not to sell this item. Please excuse the photos, I have not removed the components from the rack and will likely do so later in the week and will upload more photos if required/requested. 8. Further information: I have recently made a significant and impulsive HiFi purchase and so, knee jerk reaction, I think that I need to sell something! This amplifier would suit the new buyer, condition is as new. I have added a couple of new photos of it out of the rack. Please PM me if interested. Parasound Halo JC5 John Curl Signature Power Amp. I purchased this amplifier only last year from Clef Hi-Fi in South Melbourne and it has performed flawlessly. It has only had light use and is from a child, pet and smoke free home. It took forever for this amplifier to burn in and the transformation once it did was phenomenal and it has never disappointed. The Parasound easily drives my Dynaudio C2 Platinum speakers and sounds spectacular. Whilst there is plenty of power and weight when needed, this amplifier can be amazingly subtle and detailed too. Seriously, this is one great amplifier! It weighs a ton and I do have the original double boxes and whatever else was supplied with it. You can find out more about it at: https://parasound.com/jc5.php Reviews: https://www.soundstagehifi.com/index.php/equipment-reviews/1245 https://parasound.com/reviews/hfn-jc5.pdf Specifications: 400 watts x 2 @ 8 Ω RMS, both channels driven 600 watts x 2 @ 4 Ω RMS, both channels driven 1200 watts x 1@ 8 Ω, in bridged mode Circuitry designed by legendary John Curl Ultra-high bias Class A/AB operation 12 watts per channel of pure Class A power 90 amperes peak current per channel Stable with speaker impedance dips to 1.5 Ω Balanced inputs with discrete circuits CHK Infinium, custom 5-way speaker binding posts Neutrik locking XLR input connectors Vampire gold-plated RCA input & loop output jacks Direct-coupled signal path, no capacitors or inductors DC Servo and relay protection circuits AC turn-on inrush surge protection with relay bypass Dual-mono input stages with ±110 volt DC rails JFET input stage, MOSFET driver stage 24 beta-matched 15 ampere, 60 MHz bipolar output transistors 1.7 kVA shielded toroid power transformer with independent windings for each channel Independent power supplies for left & right channel input stages, driver stages, output stages 8,880 µF Nichicon Gold Tune filter capacitors for input stages 132,000 µF Rubycon filter capacitors for output stages Full power is rated all the way down to 5Hz for unrestricted low-end bass Harris hyper-fast soft-recovery bridge diode rectifiers Automatic turn-on by 12 V trigger or audio sensing 4 rack space chassis with rear carry handles Rack mount hardware is included Available in silver or black Right at the moment everything is hooked up, but this may change, and I am happy for potential buyers to audition, subject to Covid restrictions. Modwright LS 36.5 and PS 36.5 You never see these for sale in Australia and I didn't think that I would be considering selling this valve pre-amp/power supply. If you are familiar with this line stage/power supply combination, you will know that no introduction is necessary. There is plenty of information online about these and here is a review if you need to know more: https://6moons.com/audioreviews/modwright4/365+.html This is simply the best pre-amp that I have owned and it continues to shine not matter what other components I have mated with it. I have the original boxes for both components. Right at the moment everything is hooked up but this may change, in the meantime I am happy for potential buyers to audition, subject to Covid restrictions. I would prefer a local sale as I am not keen on the idea of these wonderful components being shipped and I think that at nearly half of the new price they represent excellent value. Photos:
  10. I would like the Jennifer Warnes record if it is still available. Thank you, Keith
  11. Further information: I am offering for sale this Cyrus Signature Phono Amp with PSX-R (not PSX-R2) power supply which I purchased from an SNA member last year. It is offered here for less than what I paid for it and represents great value for money. I am happy to demo depending on current Covid rules. As well as sounding fabulous, this phono stage is incredibly flexible with cartridge setting changes possible on the fly and inputs for four turntables. The Phono Amp is in mint as new condition, originally purchased in December 2019 it is complete with original double box packaging, instruction manuals and remote. The plastic locking tag of the battery compartment cover of the remote is broken. I didn't realise this was broken until unpacking it to photograph since I have never used it. The PSX-R has some minor scuff marks, nothing serious and in otherwise very good condition, and not noticeable when placed in a rack or on a shelf. I have taken extra photographs of it to better illustrate its condition. I have an original Cyrus box for packaging the PSX-R. I have had to think long and hard about selling this because it is probably the best phono stage that I have owned. However I am trying to declutter and perhaps finance a turntable upgrade. I guess this phono stage doesn't need any introduction, but here is a recent review: https://www.stereo.net.au/reviews/cyrus-audio-phono-signature-phono-stage-review Phono Signature Our award-winning Phono Signature is lauded as one of the best phono stage at any price. The purity of the tiny signal produced from the stylus is preserved throughout the amplification journey, through a deep understanding of circuit design and our relentless pursuit of perfection. Music produced from a well-calibrated turntable, good stylus and the Cyrus Phono Signature is surely one of the finest experiences in audio. Phono Signature design A phono stage is one of the most critically sensitive products in hi-fi. Because the signals produced by the needle are so small, they need to be amplified many thousands of times. Consequently, the signal path has to be perfectly clear of inductive fields, each individual component has to be best in class and of the utmost quality. The rewards though, for getting it right, are superb. Cyrus’ Phono Signature has been designed to allow up to four turntables to be permanently connected because many vinyl enthusiasts enjoy multiple turntables, arms or cartridges for different records. It is also possible to calibrate each input separately from the comfort of your armchair using the included ir14 remote control Each of the four inputs can be accurately matched to the exact specification of the cartridge and the acoustic preference of the user. Adjustment is provided for MC cartridges in; gain, resistance and capacitance. In addition, a switchable warp filter is provided to maximise amplifier performance. Specifications Inputs Analogue RCA Phono – 4 pairs Outputs Analogue RCA – 1 pair XLR Balanced – 1 pair PSX-R Upgrade Port – Yes MC-BUS – Yes Dimensions (mm) Height 73 Width 215 Depth 360 Weight (kg) 4.1 PSX-R This intelligent, highly regulated audiophile power supply can be connected to the vast majority of Cyrus products. By providing an extremely smooth and stable DC feed, the PSX-R helps the partnered component to achieve its the full potential. This is one of our most popular upgrades and is highly recommended. The PSX-R provides new depth and detail to the sound output of most Cyrus products by separating the processes within the machine. Low noise high gain amplifiers connected in a propriety design filter out any unwanted noise and provide remarkable benefits in sound quality. These improvements in sound quality are sure to make any audiophile smile. A stable, strong and separated power supply can provide huge sound quality benefits for a hi-fi system. By powering part of the workings of a Cyrus unit, the PSX-R lessens the strain on its internal power supply. This separation of power makes the unit work more efficiently, and creates a stronger and more detailed sound. A fully regulated 300W DC power supply, the PSX-R uses intelligent connectivity which automatically adjusts its output parameters to suit the partnering Cyrus component. Connection to a partnering Cyrus unit is made through a high quality XLR cable. In all instances this audiophile power supply can be added into the system without any changes to the existing components. Technical Information Electrical Outputs – ±35.5 VDC for stereo power and integrated amplifiers ±18-30 VDC for mono-bloc power and other amplifiers ±21 VDC for low power applications Power – 300VA toroidal transformer Dimensions (H x W x D) – 73 x 215 x 360 mm Weight – 7kg Photos:
