  1. GLWTS, I have listened to the smaller bookshelf Arias and almost bought them... Sounded better to my ears than the Evoke M20s. The floorstanders should have the bass that was MIA in the bookshelves (more so than other bookshelves I have auditioned).
  2. I have got my LS50 Metas last week and I have to agree with you, they don't appear to be difficult to drive with my (shock and horror) AVR, a Sony STR-DN1080. SPL wise they are same or slightly (1-2 db) lower than my previous Wharfedale 8.2 bookshelves at the same AVR volume level. SQ is sublime, and a bit of REW convolution filter calibration and room correction and sub supplementation (Richter Thor III) makes it as good as it gets at this price level, for my needs.
  3. Up to the reader, depending on how much they care about objective measurements...
  4. In terms of objective sound quality metrics, DENON leads Anthem by a small amount, and has better usability and support: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/denon-avr-x3700h-avr-review.15031/
  5. Thanks for the offer, I would love to hear your system, share a beer or two, and talk about music. 😀 Being in Adelaide, it may be a while before I can take you up on the offer, though... I do not own this Topping DAC, I have a lower model, D50, which also measures (and sounds) very, very well, and does great in my Stax setup.
  6. Can't tell if this is a joke or not, but objectively, the difference is night and day: - $1K buys you objectively the top measured DAC: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/topping-d90se-review-balanced-dac.24235/ - $10 buys you a mediocre working product: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/unbranded-adc-from-ebay-measurements.23962/ You can get great sounding DACs in the double digit $$$, e.g. the Apple USBC dongles, but still demonstrably limited compared to the D90 and many other comparable devices.
  7. I have been following classifieds for a few months now and I do not see this level of discounting. Typically 10-40% off RRP range on 1-5 yr old electronic items. Many of these "audiophile" items are priced stratospherically for what they are to begin with (10K DAC when a 1K Topping D90xx DAC scores perfectly objectively? That is 9K in upfront snake oil cost right there).
  8. Ripper earphones at a great price, I have them and very happy, GLWTS.
  9. Yamaha WXA-50 streamer/DAC/amplifier should do it based on specs, if you don't mind class D ICEpower amplification, very good metrics on ASR and < $600 new.
  10. GLWTS! How noticeable is the difference between this and R2C? I am planning an R3 LRs + LS50 for centre due to the point music source and smaller size, but could accomodate an R2C in a pinch.
  11. Still have very fond memories of my Sony TA-F519R purchased in 1993 new, they made the Sony SS-E211 large bookshelves sing! My first dabble with real Hi-Fi. GLWTS, this will sound awesome at 105db SNR and 0.004% THD with a damping factor of 100.
  12. If you don't get anyone interested in LCR but someone is interested in a pair of speakers I would be interested to buy your centre speaker, for integration in a future R3 or LS50 Meta LCR setup. Thanks!
  13. Thank you, I am also eyeing the SVS 1000 Pro as it does everything I need at a good price, and with a 12" to boot! What room position did you end up with, and what frequency do you cross at? Thanks in advance.
  14. I may be interested, but without some good objective review (ASR, Stereophile or similar) and no audition possible it is hard to justify this purchase. I also believe physics dictate 27Hz is impossible in a passive speaker this size, though of course that is Magnat's claim.
  15. Item: KEF R300 or R3 Bookshelf speakers Price Range: $1000-1700 Item Condition: New or Used Extra Info: Looking to complete my stereo setup with good quality bookshelves. I have auditioned R300 3 years ago but could not justify the price new. Based on everything I have read, R3 are just as good.
