  1. Not necessarily. I am by no means a die hard audio connoisseur. These are more for relaxing on the couch with a bottle of red listening to some nice tunes while the fire crackles. Also just for more casual listening while cooking dinner etc.
  2. I don't have any dedicated stands so most of the listening was done in the cabinets. I did try them on some stools in lieu of stands and it didnt make a massive difference. Yep I still have the amp. Will hold on to it for now while I settle on what my options are. Considering how much I lost on the Monitor Audio's after just owning them for a couple of weeks, I will probably just wait for something to pop up in the second hand market to limit my liability if I don't like them again. I was under the impression the Monitor Audio's would have very clean highs (almost to the point of being sparkly) and subdued bass but I wasn't prepared for just how little bass would they would provide. Plus the treble still wasn't as crisp as I expecting. Set up a bit of a blind test as follows 10 varied tracks played via Tidal Hifi Scenario 1: Monitor Audio Bronze 50 from NAD C368 via Chromecast Audio RCA Scenario 2: Paradigm Milleniaone from NAD C368 via Chromecast Audio RCA Scenario 3: Panasonic SA PM18 CD/Cassette micro system (see pic) probably bought from Kmart 20 years ago via Chromecast Audio RCA into aux input All able to be able to be switched between at will My listening preferences went Paradigm 5 Panasonic 3 Monitor Audio 2 My wife's scores Panasonic 5 Paradigm 4 Monitor Audio 1 The bass wasn't very clean and quite boomy with the Panasonic micro-system but it was sure entertaining. Plus the treble on it was way more crisp than I would have initially expected. Overall my wife just preferred how clear and fun it sounds, even if it probably isn't the most accurate sound. In a lot of ways I agreed with her. Overall it was just disappointing that it was even in the same ballpark after spending close to $2k on now hifi gear. So keeping the current setup with the Paradigms is certainly an option, but I am still on the hunt for some fuller, detailed sound.
  3. In the end I picked up a NAD C368 from these forums and some Monitor Audio Bronze 50s new. Overall I was pretty disappointed with the sound. In a blind test 3 out of 4 people actually preferred the sound from my wife's old Kmart CD/cassette player which was a bit demoralising. I have just sold the speakers and I am now weighing up my options. Thinking about taking a suggestion from earlier in this thread and going for a second hand set of LS50 wireless.
  4. Further information: Monitor Audio Bronze 50s in white. About a month old and in as new condition. 5. Item: Yamaha WXA-50 Price Range: ~$400 Item Condition: New or Used Extra Info: Not much extra info needed, just chasing a Yamaha WXA-50....
  6. Am I missing something here because the only plans I currently see at https://www.deezer.com/en/offers are Deezer Premium and Deezer Family which seem much different + cheaper than the plans others are listing in this thread. No distinct Hifi plan but it High Fidelity included with Premium???
  7. Found a NAD C368 from a member on here. Fingers crossed it serves me well.
  8. Item: Integrated amplifier with DAC (NAD C368/D3045, CA AXR100, Rotel A12) Price Range: $750 - $1000 Item Condition: New or Used Extra Info: I am undecided on which amp to go with for a beginner 2.0 setup and seem to change my mind daily, so I thought I would see if grabbing second hand bargain on something nice can make the decision for me. Must have: - Optical inputs for TV/Chromecast audio Good to have: - Two sets of binding posts for A/B speakers - Network streaming capabilities - Phono stage - Bluetooth AptX Will be paired with Monitor Audio Bronze 50s. Leaning towards a NAD C368 at the moment but open to other suggestions. Please don't forget to report your post as FOUND when possible. (You can delete this text before pressing Submit).
  9. Further information: SVS SB-1000 subwoofer up for sale. Functionally it works fine and comes with the original box, power cable, instructions etc. However there are some minor scuff-marks/scratches on the unit. Nothing too serious, hopefully they come up in the pics. The main cosmetic issue is with the grill, as you can see in the pics it has a tear near the bottom. 10. There is a power point in the left hand cabinet and that is where the amp would live. There is also a conduit running from behind the TV down there (nearby the gas fireplace) that I can run the optical cable through. Shouldn't be too hard for me to run a speaker cable either through the cabinetry or under the floorboards for the other side. A small hole for speaker cable wouldn't be too bad but not sure the wife would be too impressed with something larger ie power cable).
  11. And sorry, I know this is a bit like asking for advice on a Corolla vs a Civic on a Ferrari forum.
  12. Yep definitely investigating the used LS50 wireless option. One factor to consider with that option is the extra modifications I might need to make to the cabinet to accommodate an extra power socket/cable etc. With passive speakers I can just make a modest hole for some speaker cable. Still leaning towards the Cambridge AXR100 + Monitor Audio Bronze 50s but hopefully Daniel Andrews will let be able to get out and audition some of this stuff soon. Anyone have any opinions of the Monitor Audio Bronze 50 vs the Q Acoustics 3020i?
  13. Item: Chromecast Audio Price Range: ? Item Condition: New or Used Extra Info: No extra info, just after a CCA for an old amp
  14. Might be best if we keep this as an audio gear advice thread rather than a relationship advice thread.
