  1. The standard server to use with Lumin app is MinimServer. You can try the free edition. If you have a Tidal subscription you can simply use the Tidal app to control the Lumin U1MINI via Tidal Connect.
  2. Lumin is Tidal Connect certified. Official Lumin firmware 14 is released to support Tidal Connect for models X1 T2 U1 U1MINI.
  3. Yes, that is required and yes that will happen in the future.
  4. Spotify will be release lossless CD quality HiFi service later this year. Lumin will support Spotify HiFi when it is released - we have been working on this for months.
  5. I'd like to add that Lumin is releasing support for Tidal Connect real soon (for models X1 T2 U1(MINI) ), so that you can use Tidal app to play to Lumin. Most of the other brands mentioned here are not interested in adding Tidal Connect so far.
  6. Those with a Lumin X1 / T2 / U1 / U1 MINI and a Tidal subscription, and would like to beta test Lumin Tidal Connect, please let me know. I hope to have a beta firmware ready by early July. I regret to say that other Lumin models have a platform limitation and therefore cannot run Tidal Connect for now.
  7. All Lumin models do not have WiFi. If you have to use WiFi, you need a WiFi to Ethernet adapter, or some (not all) WiFi routers can be turned into WiFi client mode or Media Bridge mode.
  8. If Tidal offers the same non-MQA version of the album as Qobuz, then yes. If your particular album is available only as MQA (Tidal master or MQA CD) on Tidal, then no. If you use Roon, check the different versions.
  9. This depends on the brand, and in some cases, firmware version. Some brands pass non-MQA to MQA decoder, Lumin does not. There is a well documented case in a Stereophile review of a certain USB DAC. I recognized really early on that some customers would not want everything pass through MQA decoder, so we checked a stream is MQA before passing it to the MQA decoder.
  10. I assure you we have different rendering profiles for our different hardware by sending different models to MQA Ltd. to do profiling. It created additional work for me since some of our models share the firmware binary and therefore the profile needs to be set at run time instead of compile time. I have worked on integration with DAC chips from four semiconductor manufacturers. Different MQA DAC should achieve the same "deblurring" characteristic but they will not sound the same or eliminate a price difference between a USD99 DAC and a USD90000 DAC. Think of it as a very optimiz
  11. No need to apologise. This thing is complex and secretive, and that's why I try to provide answers wherever I can from my experience of integrating this technology.
  12. I found your posts there. No, I don't think this is what he said. Roon MQA Core decoding cannot occur in your scenario because Sonos do not support over 48kHz. Since no MQA Core decoding occurred, Roon should be sending the MQA CD just as your native platform gets the same MQA CD from Tidal, if you picked the same version in both players. There are four versions of the same album. He said he suspected it is a display bug with the 24 bit thing, but I disagree on this. I claim that it is not a bug, I claim Roon is functioning and reporting correctly regarding the bit
  13. Every streaming service provider needs to deliver the same music at multiple bit rates. Tidal needs to deliver 96kbps AAC, 320kbps AAC, 16/44.1 FLAC, 24-bit MQA for different subscription types or settings for the same music. Remember that in addition to HiFi Plus, HiFi, there is also the lossy Premium subscription. Even Spotify has multiple bitrates to choose from for the same music with the same lossy subscription: 96kbps, 160kbps, 256kbps, 320kbps.
  14. 1. Roon always uses a consistent set of MQA decoding logic. 2. You got the 16/44.1 MQA file. Roon MQA Core decoding is activated as expected. 3. MQA 96kHz or MQA 192kHz music are delivered in 48kHz FLAC. The MQA signalling in the 48kHz file is destroyed by asking for a 44.1kHz file at HiFi quality instead of the Master quality.
