  1. Problem is I (unwisely in hindsight) sold the better vinyl in 1993, most of my music is on cd/ digital form and am on a budget so I want to improve what I have.
  2. Thanks for the recent advice, I have sent a PM. How does the modified Sonos compare or is this a step too far for a novice?
  3. Sonos Connect - to the router and then to the amp. At present not using subscriptions but using the radio function. Running Spotify from the iPhone and may move to the subscription when the imac or its replacement is up and running. When the sonos works it sounds good, but not as warm/ good as vinyl. Similarly analog radio sounds better than the digitised stream. Cheers
  4. Ok - my research has modified my query. My amplifier is a Rotel r-05se, it plays vinyl beautifully (to my ear). The sonos is unreliable - largely a function of the dodgy imac. I was sold the sonos on the basis that it would replace the need for a cd player.; At present I am playing vinyl and connecting the iPhone to the input on the amp. [incidentally I am looking to buy a secondhand am/fm receiver to improve the radio sound over the streamed sound.] I would like to improve the sound from the Sonos, improve the sound from iPhone (if connected) and have a good CD player. From my research the Marantz CD6005 is a good cd player and will improve the sound from the iPhone but will not improve the sound from the sonos as it will not improve the analog signal out. Is there cost -effective, better way? For example the Audiolab 8200CD - although this thread indicates a mixed review http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php/topic/38704-audiolab-8200cd-what-the/ Thanks
  5. Records arrived in good order, thanks Mike. Happy Holidays.
  6. I would be interested in Housemartins - London 0 Hull 4 V.Spy V.Spy - Xenophopia (Why?) V.Spy V.Spy - Trash the Planet V.Spy V.Spy - Harry's Reasons If you are prepared to post to Melbourne Cheers Jim
  7. (copied over from new members at suggestion of djb) I have a Sonos system which relied on a geriatric and now completely unreliable imac to store the files. Currently I am restricted to vinyl and running cd's through the blu ray player through the tv to the amp via the headphone jack (and the iphone by similar means). I am looking to buy Marantz 6005 cd - my question for the forums is whether I will get better sound quality than via sonos?
  8. Item: Marantz 6005 CD Player Price Range: Item Condition: New or Used Extra Info: Definitely in excellent working condition and preferably in silver rather than in black. I am based in Melbourne

  10. Hello everyone. I am new to Stereo.net. I am working on a good budget system and regretting selling much of the vinyl in 1993 but working on rebuiliding and expanding the collection.
