Pioneer VSX-922-K receiver
rabb1tAV replied to rabb1tAV's topic in AV Receivers, Multi-channel Amps & Processors
That was my advert I put up with no idea on price...and still no idea. I dropped it by $100 so it's now $300. -
Further information: Pioneer VSX-922-K receiver Good condition. Barely used. Sticker on front has started to peel off, but that's just an advert on specs anyway. Comes with: * remote * Free - Netgear WNCE2001 Wifi adapter which is powered by the receiver's USB port and provides Air play. Would be better to cable the receiver into your wifi router as I found using the adapter a bit flakey. * Free - Sony subwoofer. Was from another stero system I had which I used with this receiver. Pioneer VSX-922-K receiver
rabb1tAV replied to rabb1tAV's topic in AV Receivers, Multi-channel Amps & Processors
Thanks for the reply. My issue is is that I don't know model numbers and ages so not sure what's old etc to compare. Sounds like I won't get much for it then. -
I have a Pioneer VSX-922-K receiver which has been lying around my house barely used so I've decided to sell it. Only issue is that I have no clue what it's worth now. Any ideas? Cheers

Good price, but I'm after them in black unfortunately. Cheers for the link. -
new speakers for outside under eves
rabb1tAV replied to rabb1tAV's topic in Speakers, Soundbars and Subwoofers
Cheers, guys. I think I still prefer the aw194's for size. Found them a little cheaper here: http://www.exeltek.com.au/yamaha-ns-aw194-black-all-weather-speakers -
Hi all, I'm after some advice on replacing some speakers. Currently I have a pair of old midi system speakers (don't shoot me - I just had these speakers lying around so used them) connected to my pioneer VSX-922 for my 2nd zone. These 2nd zone speakers are outside attached to the wall under the eves. Since we're doing the area up at the moment, my wife wants to get rid of these speakers as she thinks they're too large and an eye sore. Inside (for zone 1) I have tangent Evo E4 speakers and even they are on the biggish side (190x125) for her requirements outside. Wondering what is available which sound good but are relatively small? They don't need to be outside speakers as such as they're out of the weather. I did think of putting ceiling speakers into the eves, but concerned the eves may rattle and the sound may reverberate back inside etc. I think wall mounting (on brick as they currently are) is probably the best way to go. Any advice on what I should go with? I don't want to spend more then $300 if possible. One set of speakers I'm thinking of are the "Yamaha NS-AW194 ".

Debruis the legend came out today and worked on it. It seemed ok until it started to record and then everything turned to custard again. I powered off and on and it did the same thing. Looks like the PVR is the issue at the moment. I'll take it up with topfield now and see what they say.
-
Thanks for the reply. Could very well be the new PVR. I have no idea. Debruis has contacted me. Looks like I had an old email address which isn't used. He saw this post tho and PM'ed me. Hopefully he can save the day again.

Just digging up this old thread since I've got an issue with the setup. At the time I was using a dgtech PVR and the reception was ok on most channels but was never 100%. I put up with it tho. It was a LOT better then what it was. I have now purchased a topfield trf-2460. It is having MAJOR issues showing any pictures. I decided to put my old set top box on. With that I can see the signal strength and quality info with the picture (and it's not as sensitive to the reception). I notice that the signal strength is around 45% and the quality is around 85%. The topfield manual states that it requires 50-90% signal strength so I assume this is where my problem is. There is a masthead amp and I tried to adjust the gain, but it's cranked up to as high as it goes. There is a fair distance between the masthead amp and the TVs (BTW, I tried unplugging 1 TV but it made no difference). I suspect I need another amp. What do you think? I sent an email to Chris (Debruis) yesterday who set all this up but haven't received a reply as yet. Maybe he's away at the moment?

Can anyone tell me (or better yet show me the info via a URL) if the tivo can allow for tv show under and overruns? -

Cheers Paul55. Today I was seriously looking at the tivo option after reading about a lot of people having other brands of PVR and then trying a tivo and going out and buying 1. The 320GB HD is a real downer tho and the requirement of internet...altho I could still do that with a wireless connection (another extra). I still haven't decided on what I'll get. -

I should note that I have an apple TV (love it! ) so I have a lot of extra features already at my finger tips. I just need a way to record TV shows. I would actually prefer my PVR not to be connected to the internet. -

What can the Tivo do that the altech can't? The "learning" feature (whatever it's called where it records types of shows you like) is pretty cool I must admit. Is there anything else? -

Tivo is around $650. The DP-Lite is around $500. The Altech is only $349. If the Altech was the same price as the other major brands it would be a no-brainer and I would buy a better known brand. But the $150-$200 price difference has got me looking into the altech more. -

You can do this, but that would mean for each program I want to record, I have to work out what time it starts and finishes and then manually entering them all in. Yes, I'm lazy. -

rabb1tAV replied to rabb1tAV's topic in Media Servers & Source Units
There was no mention of the altech in that thread...well, not in the 1st 5 pages and that thread didn't up come in the search function....I didn't particulary want to read all 37 pages if I could help it. -
I've currently got a DGTEC DG-HDPVR320 and it's driving me nuts. It doesn't do allow for any program overruns (padding) and more often then not when I record something it chops the end off it....and then I get the evil eye from my wife as well. I've been trying to find a reasonably priced PVR to replace this one and I've found the Altech PVR6690 which seems VERY resonably priced. It does the padding/overrun thing which at the moment is my main concern. Has anyone had any experience with them? I can't seem to find a heck of a lot on the 'net about them. According to their website it can do 20 minutes before the show and 30 minutes afterwards...that should be enough for me. Is this a good buy? Anything else I should be looking at (functions wise)? Cheers

Thanks to Debruis for sorting it all out for me

Thanks for the info. The issue is that the masthead amp is up to the top of the mast so to plug into it I have to bring the mast down just for this test anyway, otherwise I would've tried your idea (as I had been thinking along the same lines). Another thought I had was to just get a new UHF aerial and cable it up etc and place it as high as I can reach on the mast and see how that goes. I'm not going to muck around now after I received the advice here about the roof work. Debruis is going to come out now and check it out for me.

Thanks guys. So who in my area (Cromer, Northern Beaches of Sydney) is recommended to do this work then? It sounds like I need them to: Get site tested for signal strength and tell me what I require (new aerial(s)/masthead amp/etc) I might as well get them to cable everything up Bring mast down and do what is required
