  1. I have this amp and had to spend 6 times what it cost (new) to do better. I have kept it though because l"m reluctant to let it go. I can supply a remote free to whoever purchases the amp (l have two remotes). This is a seriously good amp with midrange to die for. GLWTS
  2. l bought a pair of these about 2 years ago for $2800 and thought that was an absolute bargain !
  3. Have had one of these from 2018 (J88D-09) and would suggest worth getting repaired as it's a superb sounding amp with a smooth, detailed and powerful sound through Whatmough 302's and Cyrus CD system.
  4. Recently tried CYRUS 8XPD QX with PSXR amp to go with CYRUS CDXTSE/DACX signature source played through WHATMOUGH 302 signature speakers. The CYRUS amp had rave review in What Hi-Fi, "better than NAIM XS" they said, assumed with CYRUS source gear would match well. Unfortunately amp in my system made half my favorite CD's l tried unlistenable; compared to the class A Jungson amp l was hoping to replace, sound was light weight, very edgy and bright. The louder music was played the edgier the sound. Very disappointed and sold amp/power supply combo 2 weeks after purchase. Made me appreciate just how good the Jungson amp was !!

  6. Further information: Marantz PM44SE - 50W per channel (@8ohms) stereo amplifier with phono input. Serviced by PULLEN in Glen Iris about 10 years ago, worked well since. In excellent condition. 7. Further information: Serviced about 10 years ago by RESURRECTION RADIO in Camberwell, no problems since. Comes with NAGAOKA MP11 BORON MM cartridge, lid operation odd (usually played with lid off), 33.3RPM speed tested with RPM app : 33.25RPM result - fine speed adjustment is possible. RCA's work but may need replacement with new better plugs, power plug works, but again suggest replacing with proper 3-pin. No ground wire (none came with TT). Manual provided. Turntable is spring suspension type. Very heavy (platter alone 2.9Kg, total about 10Kg) Overall, in great condition considering age. BTW sounds great. From Vinyl Engine : Description The Dual 701 is the quietest turntable ever made. Not only in our judgement, but in that of the first independent test laboratory to evaluate its performance. This has been accomplished by an entirely different kind of motor, designed expressly for the 701, and a very innovative approach to the problem of resonance. Instead of the familiar, high speed AC motor, the 701 has an all electronic, low speed motor, with feedback-controlled speed precision. Because this motor rotates at the record speed, 33 1/3 or 45rpm, the need for speed reduction systems such as friction idler or rim belt is eliminated. Instead, the platter is rotated directly by the motor, and the record spindle is the top of the motor shaft. The 701 motor is so quiet and free from vibration that it does not require any isolation mounting, but is mounted directly to the chassis. Specifications Platter: non-magnetic, dynamically balanced, detachable 2.9kg Platter speeds: 33.33 and 45rpm, electronically adjustable Pitch control: 10% separate for both speeds, each adjusted by means of variable resistor, with calibration scale Speed control: with illuminated stroboscope Wow and flutter: < 0.03% Rumble: < 50dB unweighted Tonearm: torsionally rigid, tubular tonearm in low-friction four-point gimbal suspension, tonearm counterbalance with two mechanical anti-resonance filters PREFER LOCAL PICK-UP due to suspension.
