  1. Ah yep, good point. I can then audition in my listening room so it's a true comparison. Would just need to raise initial funds for the Elsinores...
  2. @evil cThanks for sharing that - yet another positive review of these speakers. You're absolutely right - the decision will be helped if I can audition them. As time goes by though I'm leaning more and more towards them...
  3. Yeah, it would be my first build which adds to my hesitancy. I do know a good cabinet maker which could help with the box build.
  4. Hi all, I realise this is quite an old thread but relevant to my query. I'm seriously considering the Elsinore build after hearing a friend's self build speakers - he had the crossovers built/tweaked by Joe many moons ago. His speakers reveal so much more detail than my Duntech Marquis. I find the Duntechs need to be cranked to get the best out of them, and tbh probably too big for my room. The conundrum is that I'd have to sell the Duntechs to fund the Elsinore build. Without auditioning the Elsinores I'd be taking a big risk in selling the Duntechs - which still sound great. So. I guess I'm just after advice as to whether the risk would be worth it? Amy advice around this build would also be much appreciated. Cheers.
  5. Further information: For sale is a pair of Siemens E88CC/6922 A-Frame Gold Pin tubes. Made In Germany Metal Stamp Code: A64J, Year 1974 These are great sounding tubes, are in excellent condition and have had less than 100 hrs in my system. I bought these NOS. They were in my phono preamp and sounded great - full balanced sound with a wide soundstage. I'm selling these to help fund the purchase of a new phono preamp with 417a tubes, so have no use for these anymore. Tube boxes included. Shipping available at buyers expense. Thanks for looking. 6. Further information: For sale are a pair of Siemens Halske CCa tubes manufactured in August 1964 as indicated by the acid etched date Code Aø 1≠ 4H. These tubes have matching factory batch numbers and are from the best generation CCa tubes made before the merge to Siemens AG. They have the double-stage getter frame-grid construction, Gray Electro-static shield, 4 seams on top, numbers in the glass between the pins, and acid codes etched in the glass. These tubes present music in a beautifully balanced way, with smooth highs, deep controlled bass, detailed mids, and wide soundstage. Despite the immense detail they remain musical without being too analytical. The print on the tubes is a bit worn but in no way reflects the condition. I've tried as best as possible to show the date codes in the photos. The first 4 test images are emission test of each triode. The second 4 test images are mutual conductance. I don't have the original boxes but will supply plain boxes as shown in the first picture Postage available at buyers expense. Thanks for looking. 7. Cool. They supposedly reduce distortion and improve sound clarity to improve the listening experience.... Problem is there'd be no going back to conventional listening If they are equivalent to a significant upgrade...
  8. I'm curious, has anyone tried these out? https://www.flareaudio.com/pages/earhd-360 Interesting concept and maybe worth a punt at $55....
  9. Further information: For Sale is a Quadraspire Q4L hifi rack in excellent condition with the addition of two extra shelves and extension columns. Due to the modular design you could turn this rack into a six rack system or with the purchase of four more feet spikes have two Q3L racks. The shelves are frosted glass with barely no marks. The foot spikes are slightly worn but in good condition. These racks are well regarded and combine curves and chamfered edges to minimise resonance and standing waves. The aluminium columns eliminate residual magnetism and the adjustable spiked feet allow efficient floor de-coupling Shelf Dimensions: Height: 256mm (per rack unit) Depth: 455 mm Width: 560mm Overall Height in four shelf configuration: 865mm Postage at buyers expense. Thanks for looking. 11. Hi, these are different from the oval 9 black mesh. Possibly an earlier version. These cables have been used and so are fully burnt in. Cheers Linc
  12. Further information: These cables consist of oxygen free copper conductors and are factory fitted with banana plugs. They sound great and are a really good bang for buck cable. In terms of sonic characteristics, the things I noticed the most were great bass clarity and dynamics. I no longer require these as I have a second pair. Initially I was going to bi-wire but have purchased amps that have only single outputs. Shipping to be paid at buyers expense. Thanks for looking. 13. Further information: For sale are four Amperex 6922 (E88CC) tubes. They are in excellent condition and have hardly been used. They were in my phono preamp and sounded great. The reason I'm selling these is to help fund the purchase of Siemens CCAs. I'm happy to audition these if needed but would prefer to post at buyers expense. I would also prefer to sell all four at once but am happy to split if two buyers are interested. Thanks for looking. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  14. Good to know Bruce. As I mentioned there's already quite an improvement with the first pass so I'm hopeful I can resolve it with another go or two. Thanks again for your help! Cheers
