I imagine you would prefer a component tuner.  Sangean WFT-3D are great if you can find a used one for sale.  (Mine gets plenty of use and isn't going anywhere soon!)

However, if not, you might want to consider one of these little Wintal units as another option.

Very good value and the insides are pretty much the same as what's in most component DAB tuners.

Has analog and optical outputs.  I got one for my daughter a couple of years ago.

I recently purchased the Wintal DAB22COM for the home office.  It's a component tuner and I'm very happy with it.  A bit over your budget at $389, but I've seen it on sale for $289.

Thanks very much for going to the trouble of making suggestions.

The Wintal looks amazingly well-featured for the price, but you're right, a component-type tuner was what I'd imagined..
It's actually for a lady who's not tech-savvy at all.

I know another member with a Sangean, but he's so happy I can't talk him into parting with it!

Yes, despite their age, Sangean WFT3s are still a very capable device.

The new WFT4 might also be suitable, but I doubt you would find a used one and you're looking at over $600 new.  The Wintal DAB22COM Component Tuner presents much better value.  Both might be perceived as a little complicated depending on what the user is used to.

I looked at the WFT4 to see if I should update, but while they have added Bluetooth Rx & Tx and some Aux inputs, they've done it at the expense of the local network streaming capability and the headphone output.  Both features that I use.  So, I'm not surprised that people don't want to part with their WFT3.

For a non tech savvy user, I guess one of the DAB+/FM tuners without all the network features would be the best.

Yamaha T-D500, CA Azur 650T or Sherwood TX-5505ID.

The Sangean WFT-1D is also still a very capable DAB+/FM Tuner if you don't mind the two-tone front panel.

I moved mine on and replaced it with the DAB22COM, but only because it didn't support newer streaming formats used by some internet radio stations.
