Further Information

As they say, nothing is forever. My audiophile journey was hard and fast, moving up many rungs of the ladder fast. I found what I was looking for and in my quest I have not yet heard something better. Alas, I've scratched that itch, and life circumstances change. We're about to embark on the next chapter of our journey as a family and the Everests don't look to feature in our anticipated style of living.

It's time to pass them on. They are the only pair of current model DD67000 to be officially delivered and sold into Australia via Harman.

No warranty is implied outside of anything that may still be valid - but know that this level of product is supported like no other. Think of it like buying an Aston Martin or Bugatti. However the current Australian distributor is aware of my intentions to sell them and knows the history of them (they were personally delivered by the distributor in a truck who drove down from Sydney to set them up). I suspect there would be no issues. I thought I had an issue at one point, and with one phone call a service tech from Melbourne was despatched within 48 hours (JLS), and it turned out to be a loose nut on the back of the speaker terminal plate!

Quote

Designed and engineered in JBL’s world-famous acoustic engineering facility in Northridge, California, and using the most advanced technologies and best components available, Project Everest DD67000 is one of the most sophisticated and sought-after speaker system available at any price. This three-way speaker features dual 15-inch (380mm) three-layer sandwich cone woofers, a 4-inch (100mm) pure beryllium compression driver and a 1-inch (25mm) pure-beryllium ultra high-frequency driver for a superlative listening experience.

Manufacturer's Information: https://www.jbl.com/floorstanding/DD67000RW-.html

These are factory Rosewood finish, and I had them professionally wrapped with high-end 3M automotive grade vinyl in a Porsche silver/grey metallic vinyl. It is 100% reversible - but personally I think they look much classier in this finish myself.

I still have the original packaging/cartons, and all literature that was supplied with them in my local storage unit. It would be a task to organise with a genuine buyer, between retrieving the cartons, repacking, and moving them to go to their new owner. I would suggest the involvement of a professional removalist, but happy to have these discussions with a genuine buyer.

They will also be supplied with a complete set of Isoacoustics Titan isolation feet, along with custom made adaptors to suit the Everests. From memory, it was around $5,000 worth at retail price at the time.

I understand the wait time for a new pair of Everests has always been around 12 months, but heard recently it has blown out to 18 months now.

They present "As New", but I have marked them as Excellent according to StereoNET's own condition guidelines.

I took delivery towards the end of COVID lockdowns. They have been lovingly used, but not abused. Happy to answer any further questions.

Audition is technically possible, but note they are running as part of an integrated AV system now, powered by Mark Levinson ML50 Limited Edition mono amplifiers which will also be available for sale.

I'd been threatening their sale for some time, but the time has come. It will be a sad day and I fear I will need to buy them again one day in the future.

Having heard these speakers several times and having similar level of speakers in my time I can assure any prospective buyers that these are off the charts in term of performance and presence.

The ultimate speaker in my opinion, heard them at the 2017 hi fi show which was also the catalyst to come home and procure 4367. :D

GLWTS man, I have no idea where to from here in my mind.

Thanks @Darren69 if you were impressed with them there, wait until you hear them setup properly. I thought that setup and demo didn't do them justice at all at the time - particuarly compared to what I had heard of them at other shows around the world. I proved that later once I owned a pair!  🙂

Man, I hope one day I get to hear them how they're meant to sound. But then I'd need to remortgage to buy some hahaha

While I appreciate the huge soundstage and their unparalleled ability to have an almost limitless sweet spot, there's no similarities between JBL and MBL. It's a very different sound.

These are the closest thing you can get (IMO) to that real live sound and reproduction of a genuine live recording with impact, slam, and all out sound pressure levels of course - when that is what you are listening to. I guess that's JBL's roots too.

For studio recordings, it's just an all round balanced sound and the best I have ever been able to create for more difficult genres like rock and classical (in their own rights). Any speaker can play the easy stuff nicely (folk, jazz, acoustic, vocal etc) and we see that at shows too often. Many speakers can also do the hard stuff, but they break up before some get to the loudness levels they desire - not with Everest. It will keep going well beyond what most people can tolerate or would want to listen to for extended periods. When I thought I had a driver problem (see text in original ad), JBL said that I would be the first Everest owner in the world to experience that if it were true, and they were adamant it wouldn't be. And they were right.

Yes that room was very bassy off memory. Massive tube mono amps I think, flash looking but not sure if they were a great match. I heard the 4367 in another room (the name of the importer escapes me now) and they sounded excellent. The rest is history, I have a friend who refuses to attend such shows as he knows it will cost him big bucks lol. Nothing wrong with your memory Marc!
