Further Information

Hi Everyone,

I'm in the process of assisting a close friend liquidate a vast majority of his Hi Fi equipment as he is transitioning into Aged Care Centre shortly and unfortunately cannot take the majority of his equipment with him to the centre.  We are currently in the process of cleaning out his apartment and have not come across any paperwork for the purchase of this item, but if we find such paper work after this advert is posted, it will be included in the sale.

Although I haven’t been able to find the invoice for the original purchase of this Canton DM 100 Soundbase 2.1, I had helped Gary order this piece of equipment online in late 2018 from Melbourne based AV realer Rio Sound & Vision that was posted up to Brisbane to him. I also remember vividly helping my friend set it up with his Sony TV of that time that lacked sufficient HDMI ports and because he was living in rented premises and not allowed to mount/drill into the walls,  this soundbase was the natural and only choice

My research has found that approximately 2yrs ago, the manufacturer Canton discontinued this particular sounbase model and subsequently a year later relaunched an updated model with the exact same dimensions named the Canton Soundeck 100 which has added Dolby Atmos, HDMI and ARC support which the unit I’ve listed here is reliant on Digital Optical or COAX connectivity, NO HDMI support. As my friend is in respite care and his apartment is 75% vacated, today I transported this soundbase and all OEM packaging back to my home and connected it to my TV and blu ray player to test. I watched the entire U-571 movie on Blu Ray and was impressed with its performance set up temporarily on my AV shelving unit.... So every thing works and functions as expected for a 2.1 surround and the base is quite impressive coming from the 4x mini down firing subwoofers under the soundbase's chassis.

The below is the only specification I could find off a retailer site as Canton no longer have the information on their website.

I'll apologise in advance as I can't offer any local demonstration of this soundbase as it literally takes me 2.5hrs in total to remove it from my garage, get it upstairs. unpack, disconnect my current connections to my soundbar and tv and relocate everything on my AV shelf just to place this 13 - 15kgs behemoth and connect it up and then return everything back afterwards and repack this into the packaging again..

I have one of theseIt's a great sound base, which I find works well for all kinds of TV--documentaries or films. It's a meter wide hence the four woofers, whereas the smaller 70cm one only had two. Mine has been in use for around 7 years now and even though I can connect my TV via HDMI eARC to my preamp, most of the time I prefer to use my Canton. The sound quality is satisfying. It's also very attractive with a glossy black glass finish on top. Finally depending on your TV (mine's an LG) you can train your TV remote to adjust the volume. It's a solid deal.
