Seriously regretful sale. The 88PB is to my ears, the most musical phono preamp I have heard. Really gets the foot tapping. Female vocals in particular are just brilliant. The 88PB just draws me into the music like few other components.

FET input, valve output.

Lots of stuff on the web. This a useful review : https://10audio.com/ear_88pb/

Bought January 2023 from Audiofix (now the distributor) in Qld, retailer is now HiFi Shop, Sunshine Coast. Paid $7,800. It's unmarked.

Some cut & pastes from the net: "For mine,  it punches well above its retail price point of $7.8K and has an unusual amount of flexibility. It has a volume control and robust output capability so it can drive a power amp directly. Moreover, the transformer-coupled output has very low impedance, so it can drive extremely long lengths of interconnects. It has both single-ended and balanced outputs."

"The volume control has two uses: to reduce the very high maximum output level to be more consistent with other components’ output levels, or to connect directly to a power amplifier in a one source systems like mine." It also sounded brilliant through my Partridge step ups routed through my ARC pre.

"The gain is specified at 52db for moving magnet and 72db for moving coil. The two single-ended inputs. One can can be selected on the back for MC or MM and when selected for MC the cartridge signal is routed first through Tim de Paravicini’s well known step-up transformers. These are identical to the ones in the MC4 step-up and the 868 preamp. The transformers have dual primaries for low to medium impedance carts and for higher impedance carts. The selection is made internally with a microswitch. The other input is MM only. Two pushbutton switches on the front panel select phono 1 or phono 2 and stereo or mono."

"The unit uses four PCC88 (7DJ8) tubes. Except for the one volt difference in filament voltage, these are the same as the ECC88/6922/6DJ8 and can be substituted with no problem, providing all four tubes are substituted."

"The EAR has two MC cartridge impedance loading positions: 4 Ohms and 40 Ohms. The two loading options offered enough flexibility to comfortably accommodate a van den Hul Condor XGM, Shelter 9000, Zyx Universe, Benz Ebony LP, and finally, a Koetsu Jade Platinum."

My favourite cartridge with the 88PB was a Lyra Delos. My system : Audio Research Ref 5SE pre and Ref. 75 power, Thales turntable, Tannoy Turnberry (originals).
