I think you will find that the 'iFi Audio iPower' and 'iPower X' are switched mode - you need to go for the (much more expensive) 'iPower Elite' to get a linear PS.

It will be use to power one of my mesh access points which is wired to my streamer and NAS so don't need anything fancy or expensive at this stage.

Sure - I'm simply pointing out that the iFi iPower items you mentioned in your title ... are not linear PSs.

No worries. I will take a LPS if it can be had for $100 or an Ifi SMPS for the same price. I am not fuss either way.

I have removed the word 'other' to remove any confusion.

You'd be lucky to find an LPS for $100.

And why do you think an iFi SMPS will sound better than the SMPS which (I presume?) came with your mesh access point?

A 12v Meanwell SMPS is a good one ... probably $40?  (I use 7 of them in my system.)

Not sure to be honest but I had used an Ifi Ipower Mk1 on my TP-Link switch previously and it made the music sounded more 'relax' so perhaps there is a bit of fairy dust in those Ifi power supplies with their noise suppression technology after all.

I can well believe the iPower Mk 1 on your switch improved the sound ... compared to what was supplied as standard.  👍  Whether or not an LPS would sound better ... is a matter of conjecture.

I think conjecture about power supplies is probably best done outside of someone's WTB thread
