Further Information

THIS ADVERT IS FOR SUBWOOFERS ONLY. PHOTOS INCLUDING MAGNEPANS ARE FOR ILLUSTRATION PURPOSES ONLY.

Wonderful pair of open baffle subwoofers. Would suit many applications especially dipoles or specifically Magnepans. I built them to fit under Magnepan LRS's. They are very solid with bottom panel screwed for easily accessible drivers. The finish is black satin painted MDF, topped with a slab of thick sealed celery pine. The sides could be further finished (auto lacquer or veneered) and easily fitted with grill cloths if preferred. They make good lounge coffee tables (they are unmarked).

I am using them with Magnepan 3.7i's now, utilising a DBX Driverack for crossovers and equalisation (and room EQ for mains). Note they must have equalisation (read Linkwitz plans +6dB/8ve below upper crossover Freq).

A Minidsp HD would be ideal. Currently they have LP at 50 Hz and HP at 25 Hz. Even for this 1 octave range (it rolls off to far more) they are most effective at adding substance to lower orchestral instruments. Great bass drum and double basses are no longer 'thin'.

Read up about open baffle bass. Many dismiss it for its book measurements but in practice it's clean, doesn't create 'room boom' (have very even dispersion). These, having no huge box, are very compact for their performance. I use a 300 watt Parasound amp (4 ohm) per side without any sign of over excersion but I don't really belt them to see what would happen. At normal loud volume they are great.

They cost me shy of $900 to produce a very good build quality pair.

Can be delivered on Monday August 26th Melbourne metropolitan area. Not available before this date. Pick up Upwey after that.
