Further Information

""The Linn Sondek LP12 (often shortened to Sondek or LP12) is a transcription turntable produced by Glasgow-based Linn Products, manufacturers of hi-fi, home theatre, and multi-room audio systems. Its name is derived from the 12" vinyl LP (long play gramophone record).

Hi-Fi Choice reviewers voted the LP12 "the most important hi-fi component ever sold in the UK" and The Absolute Sound ranked it the second most significant turntable of all time in 2011. "

You'll probably need to provide some greater detail on this Linn for genuine interest - i.e. upgrades done (or not), what is supplied etc.

Can't speak on the poster's behalf, but there is probably little history known.

It was inherited.

@AWebb I'd suggest that you take a picture of the back of the plinth showing the serial number of the LP12. From that number, serious (potential) buyers will be able to find out exactly what period your LP12 hails from and what improvements it has had at the time of purchase. It looks to be  an early Valhalla psu model, so non Cirkus at least.

There's an online data base for the serial number and it will definitely refine your ad and potential buyers will know precisely what they are looking at.(within reason)

I don’t have any history, I inherited this as part of a sound system.

I took a photo and there isnt any details etc, maybe I’d have to take it out of the plinth. I’m not wanting to damage it, inspection welcome.

I would say very late 70s model, probably not even Valhalla.

It still has a rodded lid, which puts it at 1979 or before. It still has its red button, so that makes its power supply pre-Valhalla. There may be no serial number on the back, if it's from the mid-late 70s- the serial number will be on a label underneath the platter

The very early models had the serial number under the platter.

Hi- it looks similar to my LP12 (except for the later tonearm and armboard)  which is an "under the platter" 14000s serial number from 76-77
