SurplusFurther Information
I first heard a pair of these a few years back when they were attached to a pair of Mark & Daniel Maximus Monitor Stand-Mount speakers.
The design basically goes way back to Gilbert Brigg's (Wharfedale founder) upward-firing speakers (eg his Column 8s). The idea is to aim the tweeter at a suspended upside-down metal cone to disperse the HF in a 360 degree horizontal plane and add 'air' to the sound.
The difference it made at my friend's house was startling. Altogether more alive and interesting and engaging. But later on, when I finally purchased these very same Maximus Monitors, my friend kept the Omni-Harmonizers as they can be attached to any pair of stereo speakers and he didn't want to lose that airiness. He still has them attached to his high-end floorstanders.
This particular pair were as a result of a 'wanted' ad I ran on SNA some time ago but I cannot recall from whom they came.
I have since sold the Maximus Monitors, and gone back to Martin Logan Electrostatic speakers, so I have all the air I need.
I kept these OHs just in case; but now my other consideration is that they only kick in at over about 7,000 Hz - and my old ears struggle to hear these frequencies. So now they really are surplus to requirements.
To use, simply sit them on top of the main speakers and tap connections to the main speaker terminals. Their internal crossovers will do the rest.
Solid little things - ceramic finish construction, about 14 x 14 x 14 cms, weight 2.5kg.
Lots of info on the M&D website. [The newer, Maximus Monitor Mk2 speakers have these OH units fully integrated.]
Email any queries. Happy to ship interstate.
