Further Information

Rare late 70’s vintage Sansui AU-317 Mk2 and matching TU-317 both in excellent cosmetic and operating condition.

The Amplifier has undergone a comprehensive recap and service by John McKenna (aka Skippy here on SNA) arguably the most qualified and best vintage Sansui tech in Australia.

Work included - replaced output transistors, driver transistors, mic, equaliser and tone control boards.

Conservatively rated by Sansui at 60 watts per channel, this was bench tested after all work at 65 watts.

Beautiful balanced sound top to bottom with a nice full mid range typical of this era of Sansui amplifiers.

The Amp and Tuner are fitted with optional Sansui Rack Handles that can be removed if preferred. One rack handle has a small section missing however visually it is not immediately noticeable and will still allow for Rack Mounting.

The Amp is paired with its matching Tuner that is also a terrific performer. FM sounds exceptionally good, I have it connected to an internal FM antenna and it has strong, clear reception on all stations.

The TU-317 has backlit dials and all work perfectly.

Both Amp and Tuner are multi-voltage units set for 240v. The AU-317Mk2 is an Australian delivered unit and I am the second owner, includes original Owners Manual and even rarer, an original Sansui AU series brochure to complete this combo.

I’m hoping to find a local buyer however willing to freight at Buyers cost.

Such a lovely bit of kit Mark and I'm guessing a lot of people here (now) don't know Skippy. I'd have to leave an explanation about his knowledge and empathy for absolutely everything Sansui. @pete_mac would do a better job but if anyone is reading this, just take it as a given that you're looking at some superlative vintage kit that has been overhauled and brought up to scratch by quite easily the best Sansui expert you'll ever be lucky to iteract with via this sale.

* I had a herd of Sansui once, all overseen by Skippy and I've kept a couple(lol). They're as rare as rare a Skippy overhauled Sansui.

**Absolutely buy with confidence from this seller and recognise that you'll be buying something that you find again that's been done up by a master.

** No, I'm not paid for bigging this ad up but I should shouldn't I...🥰

thanks for the vote of confidence Lee.
I’ve been listening to this combo with a pair of Usher 520-S for the past few and really enjoying it. Plenty of power, detail, and 70’s warmth that is beguiling.

John did a wonderful job with the service and recap of this one and it’s ready for another 40 years of service.
