Further Information

As you know, these are true endgame speakers.

Full range, 20-20k. With deep, tight, and viscerally impactful bass from the 12” ATL loaded radial driver, smooth, natural, and revealing midrange from the 10KG custom PMC 75mm soft dome, a revealing, detailed, and distortion free top end, and utterly effortless, always.

Driven by high current amplification and a quality source, they'll reward you with an experience at the pinnacle of what is possible with current technology.

I’m powering them with Devialet 400s and once powered and positioned properly, have found nothing wanting at any listening level. They sound fantastic at low levels, but will also play as loud as your ears, neighbours, or law enforcement will allow, without distortion. The D400 is a great match, and the SAM profile improves the bass, phase, and provides driver protection. I'm happy to sell with the Devialets if preferred.

As I'm downsizing from a 50 to 20SQM living space,, I'd also consider a trade for a top end pair of monitors with cash adjustment as appropriate - Focal Diablo Utopia, TAD CE1/ME1 etc, or possibly super slim floorstanders.

Interested parties will know these speakers already, though I am of course happy to answer any questions.

Pickup is preferred from Melbourne CBD, or otherwise I can drop them to pack and send, where Australia wide shipping will cost around $1000, given they'll need to be palletised. Price adjusted to suit sale by 9th May.

Audition is no problem; bring some gear and perhaps a couple beers or a red if you feel like a solid listening session!

Any questions, give me a shout.

Cheers

Al

"TAD CE1/ME1" — I heard both those at the hifi show and thought the larger ones were bass-wise overloading that room which was probably 25-30sqm. The CE1 models were fab. I believe new models are being released this year.

I hear you on the TADs! Given I'm coming from the MB2s and the backup plan is Dynaudio C1, it's a high bar to get to something compact which fits the space, while still being a material improvement over the C1s. Honestly, I enjoyed the sound of the C1s more than the new Confidence 20s.

Whenever I did a switch between them and the MB2s (clearly not a fair comparison), I had a huge grin on my face when switching back to the MB2s.

FWIW, the KEF Reference 1 might be in the mix although I much prefer the TAD's design/look.

In this comparison video my sense was firmly KEF and TAD shared first place, didn't like the other two. (Recording method seems ok.) Is it fair to say that Dynaudio have a "sound"? I have seen them described as a "Schönfärber" (a German term describing the addition of some sort of colouration toward the "beautiful" or "pleasant", it's sort of a backhanded compliment).

Tad's easily, the others are just nice speakers. That wooden speaker sounded like yesterday..
