Further Information

Further information:

For Sale: Rare Unison Research Reference 300B Preamplifier & 845 Monoblocks

(Posted with admin permission to assist in selling the late Smp’s audio collection.)

The family is keen that these are sold and will entertain reasonable offers.

While the recent interstate interest is appreciated, local buyers are preferred (due to logistical reasons). However, all serious offers will be presented to the family. But please, no low-ballers.

** We’ve just added a pic of one of the three crates for those interstate members who have enquired about shipping. If you are a serious buyer, we can get you weight/size etc to allow you to get freight quoted, or we can talk to locally P&S for an estimate. (It may take a few days).

Key Details:

Purchased new in 2007 but surprisingly lightly used. Over the past 18 years, Richard rotated through an exceptional range of amplifiers, including at least two Lamm systems, a Viva 845, Line Magnetic 845, multiple First Watt amps, Cary 300B monoblocks, and an Almarro A318B. Of all these, the only amps he never considered selling were the Unison Research and his Lamm Signature series.

• Condition: The amplifiers are in outstanding condition, with only one noticeable minor blemish (photographed). The tubes are presumed to have plenty of life left, and the Elrog 300B preamp tubes have only ~100 hours of use.

• Purchased: March 2007 (240V model)

• Current Retail Price: $114K

• Included: Remote, original packaging & boxes (manual is missing).

• Not Included: The Finite Elemente HD9 & HD10 Master Reference amp stands (shown in photos) are available separately.

• Freight/Insurance: Additional to listed price.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While an international listing has been recommended, for convenience and practicality, the family has decided to sell locally and has priced the system for a quick sale.

Due to the weight and shipping complexity, local buyers are prioritized, though interstate sales will be considered if no local interest arises.

For those seeking more insight into the performance and craftsmanship of these amps, we’ve included a 2007 Hi-Fi Choice review that explores their capabilities in depth.

From Smp’s family :

Hopefully we’ve covered everything in this post, but please feel free to ask any questions and we will endeavour to reply (with the help of local SNA members), so please be patient.

Thank you for looking!

Uhh , I am sitting on the fence with this uber rare opportunity ,  I guess , as I have reached the allmighty audio nirvana high with recent top shelf pre amps purchases for both systems which has me in awe.
Yes be ideal for the Unison Reference classics to remain in WA to also enjoy something very special.

However if someone only wishes to purchase the 845 mono blocks  , I would consider the Pre Amp on its own.

Let's keep these in WA.

80W SET Class A Reference Amps ❤️

@La scala @Ed369 @caminperth anyone?

I'd love to but wouldn't want to insult the family with the amount I could afford.

I never got to listen to these as during visits to see Richard and setup his Elrogs we used the red Viva beast. Either way, we spent a good amount of time listening and chatting. An enjoyable time that I will remember.
