NLR - UpgradedFurther Information
Hi guys, Happy New year !
Starting the year with an upgrade to my subs, therefore my trusted SVS PB-2000 pair, are no longer required and has to go. The Subs are in a great physical and functional condition.
I prefer selling them as a pair ,and frankly having 2 as minimum makes a significat difference with actual in-room response, and showed/proved below.
They look great with the metal grill, and I loved the form factor with the rounded edges and significantly manageable weight !
I like this design quite a bit, that I upgraded to it's bigger brother PB-3000 to keep the aesthetics but with improved performance and flexibility.
These have been in a small/medium sized dedicated HT room (4.3 x4m) , and in a dual setup have been working very moderately.
Both plate amps have been swapped out in the last 2-3 years.
First one was because I broke the LFE RCA socket while trying to plug in a cable that had a tight plug.
Second sub wouldn't go into auto-standy. I both cases SVS support have been great and essentially send me new replacements.
Along with the pictures of the subs, I've also attached a couple of REW measurements snapshots.
Measurements were taken in-room before I removed them from their default location - diagonal corners of the room as you can see in the pics as well.
These are done directly to the subs withouth any AVR in path or room correction/eq applied.
First measurement shows the near-field (about 50 cm from the subs) with Var smoothing.
- Both subs perform essentially identical, and without much or any degradation in freq response.
Second measurements shows the subs measured from the main listening position (without any room calibration/dsp/peq applied)
- We can see the suckouts due to the room, that occurs in different regions of the response with the individual subs.
- But together in diagonol corners in the room, they provide an almost flat response from the MLP.
- With room calibration or simple PEQ, I can get this to almost flat from about 18Hz to 80Hz.
- This shows the importance of multiple bass sources to even out response. The suck-outs can't be fixed with calibration/peq.
