Further Information

After deciding to dip my toes, for the 1st time, into Tube Power amplification (although they get hot, so do not dip toes into these amps) , something needs to go to allow me to continue the "audiophile journey", ie. if I haven't experinced it, I will never know. As it takes more that a few days to really assess a "new" option, I purchased a Primalune EVO 400 power amplifier and need to move the Plinius to help with the cost.

Will it be better? Only time will tell, and when it comes to replacing the tubes (and I have a couple of tube guitar amps, so perhaps I should know better), I will be able to answer that question with more expertise, but at this stage, after a couple of weeks, I appreciate the difference. Better? I am not sure, but enjoyable, yes.

I have owned this for about 5 years, after taking in a Mark Levinson 334, for a repar to the poser switch to Len Wallis and said, "can I borrow the Plinius while this gets repaired?", and the rest is history where we did a swap, because I though it was better. More oomph, more dynamic, whereas I found the Mark Levinson, excellent, but polite and measured. I found the Plinius bass response and control to be close to some Krells I owned in the past.  The only amp(s) I ever regretted selling were Krell KMA100 mono-blocks, that were unbelievable, but the Plinius is pretty close.

The Plinius SA-103 offers a natural, neutral tonal balance, just the right amount of musicality, superb bass performance, plenty of current to drive the most piggish speakers, functional and tasteful design.

The Plinius SA-103 runs at switchable Class A, and Class AB, balanced and unbalanced, stereo or mono.

Shipping for this amp at 40kgs, would be a challenge, so am happy to deliver anywhere from Sydney to Canberra (and if you at in that area, I am happy for for you to come to Bundanoon for a listen).

Condition is excellent and I have never had an issue with this amp.

This amp really shines when used with another as monoblocks.

The power output increases by 4.

They make good room heaters in Class A mode.

1kw power consumption in Class A mode.

I really love mine.
