Further Information

I'm selling a bunch of my home theatre equipment because I really can't use it to its full potential anymore. Can't turn it up around the kids and can't turn it up when they're asleep. Wife also wants the equipment rack gone and whatever remains needs to fit in an entertainment cabinet.

I've got three Lovan Sovereign racks. One of the racks is the taller rack. As the tops on these are the wooden ones, there's some paint missing from some of the tops. Check out the photos to see what I'm talking about. Maybe a Sharpie would do wonders? The racks are also missing the pointy feet, as seen in the photos.

As with my last two listings, I really couldn't figure out what these were worth so I've based the price on a previous, and expired, listing from here. I really underestimated the price of the Denon so hopefully I haven't done the same here. I know the Classified Guidelines frown upon the practice of flipping but I give everyone full permission to do so. My wife wants them gone.

PS. I didn't realise how dusty they were until I viewed the photos on my computer.

Dimensions:

'Normal racks':

Length of top: 59 cm

Width of top: 51 cm

Height: 21 cm

Space between the two front poles: 46 cm

'Tall rack':

Same as above but with a height of 27 cm.

These racks are easy to keep looking like new. Don't use a Sharpie. Just get a spray can of matt black paint from Supercheap Auto. Give the rack and the shelf a wipe with a damp sponge to remove any dirt. Let it dry and then from about 100mm spray light sprays back and forth so you don't get a buildup of blobs of paint. After 2 or 3 times you'll see proper coverage. The matt black blends in perfectly with the existing black of the shelf and the racks.

Any time you get any marks or scratches just do the same and you'll find these stay looking good.

The spike feet aren't anything special so just get anything cheap. The spikes fit into the centre of the top plate of the shelf below. They have a nut on the thread to tighten against the horizontal plate that is recessed in the vertical tubes to secure them in position after you've adjusted them to get the rack level. Lovan supplied a cranked pressed-steel spanner to get up in that recess - a normal spanner won't get up there. I wasn't too OCD about levelling except for the one that had a CD player or turntable. Being three legs not four they're easy to get perfectly level. I fitted Herbies Audio glider isolation feet so I could slide the rack out to access the cables behind.

The rear leg can be a pain if the equipment on that shelf has the IEC power cord in the centre of the back panel.

The vertical post tops pop off - I used a length of wooden dowel up through the spike foot hole and gave it a tap with a hammer rather than trying to pry them off - and the legs can be filled with sand.
When I bought mine Logan who are US had just shifted manufacture to Asia and the quality control collapsed and the legs were askew so they wouldn't align exactly with the ones underneath. Instead of checking the replacement was okay the Australian distributor just kept sending me new ones so I ended up with quite a few - they didn't want the faulty ones returned. In the end I spent a weekend with a square and a rubber mallet and annoyed the neighbours with a thousand bong-bongs as I straightened them all square. So they're very easy to get exactly true, and they're easy to keep looking new with the spray can paint. Each shelf level is isolated from the one below with spikes and the wood shelves sit on isolation pads - I used Herbies Audio dots. And the legs can be filled with sand. I have so many that I can set them low and long or tall and narrow - one two or three seperate racks - so you're not constrained with just the one fixed rack and the different height levels can be moved around too, depending on the size of your equipment. They came with MDF wood or glass (clear or smoked) shelves and there were amp stands as well - I use those as the base level that the others stack on.

Wow, thanks for the information! That'll come in handy when I'm ready to get rid of a couple of other Lovan racks I have left over (different type). Their boards are in bad shape.

Also agree with the location of the rear pole. Total PIA with some equipment.
