Triangle’s Borea Series Gets Active & Connected
Triangle's Borea range welcomes two connected active bookshelf loudspeaker models.
Triangle's Borea series has impressed us with its passive models in bookshelf and floorstanding options. The French hi-fi company is pinning its hopes that its latest active connected BR02 BT and BR03 BT standmounters do the same.
The BR02 BT & BR03 BT speakers offer Bluetooth aptX music streaming, a phono input to connect your turntable, optical input for your TV and a SUB output for a subwoofer association.
Designed to meet everyone's needs, the onboard amplifier features the latest Bluetooth v5.0 technology. It allows you to freely stream your music wirelessly up to 24 bit/48 kHz from any Bluetooth device.
The amplifier of the Active BOREA speaker integrates a MM Phono preamplifier, which allows you to connect your turntable directly to the active speaker and enjoy a warm sound when listening to your 33 & 45 rpm records.
In partnership with the famous Austrian manufacturer Pro-Ject, Triangle has also developed a turntable designed to create an elegant and uniform all-in-one package. The turntables will be available in 4 finishes in September 2022.
The BR03 BT sports a 6.5-inch natural cellulose paper mid/bass driver powered by 2 x 60 Watts amplifiers, whereas the BR02 BT employs a 5-inch driver partnered with 2 x 50 Watt amplification.
Both models benefit from Triangle's excellent EFS fabric dome tweeter.
The drivers are housed in cabinets constructed from layers of HDF and incorporate an innovative DVAS (Driver Vibration Absorption System) that absorbs vibrations generated by the movement of the bass drivers.
Lastly, the BR02 BT ($1,000 RRP) and BR03 BT ($1,200) come in five contemporary finishes with oblong-shaped magnetic grilles, including Green Oak, Cream Soft, Light Oak Blue, Light Oak and the timeless Black Classic. Optional stands are also available.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
