If like me, you're a regular gig-goer this isolation malarkey will probably already be giving you a strong case of FOMO.
It seems that almost everyone has a ukelele, acoustic guitar or keyboard and that they are now willingly live streaming to friends and family on Facebook. These can be great or very not-so. However, there are some big names out there who are sharing their talent for free, now that tours have been cancelled.
We have trawled the interwebs to bring you a round-up of the musical streams that caught our eye across a variety of platforms.
Thrash Metal heroes, one of the Big Four and now Rock Royalty, Metallica continues to forge forwards. Lars, James, Kirk and Robert have recently kicked-off a new concert series, #MetallicaMondays. The show sees the band stream a complete Metallica gig on the group's YouTube channel and Facebook Page every week. They start at 20:00 (EDT) every Friday. Yeah! \m/\m/
Neil Young is rocking the home video vibe with his Fireside Sessions - his wife is behind the camera while he gives a live concert from his living room. Young promises a “down-home production, a few songs, a little time together”, and that's fine by us.
Bruce Springsteen has, for the first time, released his live performance from London Calling, Hyde Park. You can't beat a bit of The Boss.
Third Man Records
Jack White's Third Man Records has already hosted the first couple of live performances for its Third Man Public Access series. Episode 1 featured Luke Schneider and Episode 2 with Teddy and the Rough Riders. You can even chip in to support the performers via PayPal.
Christine and the Queens
The fabulous Christine and the Queens continues with the evening live streams and look out for special guests dropping by. Furthermore, as it's on Insta, you can look back and catch up with any you've missed so far.
Billy Ray's headline-grabbing offspring has been live streaming with a range of guests every weekday at 14:30, also on Instagram. Her show’s guests so far have included the likes of Reese Witherspoon and Hilary Duff, as well as a Hannah Montana reunion with Emily Osment.

Together At Home
Together At Home is Global Citizen's virtual concert series in partnership with the World Health Organisation. Global Citizen is a “movement of engaged citizens who are using their collective voice to end extreme poverty by 2030”. The series streams live from the company's YouTube channel and has hosted Barenaked Ladies (above), Chris Martin of Coldplay, Common, John Legend and more.
Sydney Opera House
March 28th was Piano Day; you knew that, right? Well, Australia marked this occasion with some of the world’s finest pianists playing at the Sydney Opera House. It was streamed live, but you can still catch the performances and exclusive interviews, including the likes of Nils Frahm, Jon Hopkins, Joep Beving, Margaret Leng and more.
A change of pace and artform, perhaps, but how could we ignore the National Theatre's announcement of #NationalTheatreAtHome? The YouTube channel will see some of the best British theatre delivered at 19:00 (GMT) every Thursday. Although, saying that, it begins with James Corden in One Man Two Guvnors on 2nd April. Just kidding, James!
If you prefer dance, Sadler's Wells is offering full-length performances and workshops online. The programme launched on Friday 27th March with an exclusive online screening of Deluxe by BalletBoyz at 19:30 (GMT). It will be available for seven days on the company's Facebook page.
Sticking with the classics but hopping over to Berlin. The Philharmonic is closed – so we will come to you! That's what the famous concert hall states on its website. Fancy watching some world-class opera and ballet from your living room - for free? The Vienna State Opera has opened its live stream archives giving you access to its Live at Home recordings of previous opera and ballet performances daily via its streaming platform. Streams start at 17:00 or 19:00 (CET), which is the opera house's usual performance times. Additionally, they will remain available for 24 hours.
