STEREONET ACQUIRES AUDIOENZ AND EXPANDS TO NEW ZEALAND

While other Australian audio-video media outlets struggle, StereoNET continues to expand and prosper.

Having recently acquired the DTV website, StereoNET has announced that it has purchased AudioEnz, one of New Zealand’s oldest and most prestigious audio publications.

The move ensures StereoNET and it companion, the International Hi-FI Show, can now expand comfortably to New Zealand.

AudioEnz has thirty-year track record publishing audio news and reviews for its New Zealand readership.

The company originally compiled a dedicated Hi-Fi print magazine called Zounds. After a few name changes it settled on the masthead called AudioEnz in 1996.

AudioEnz is regarded as one of the few audio print magazines to acknowledge the digital era had arrived for the audio media. It devolved itself of all print titles in 2000 to concentrate on the online publishing market, a move that saw AudioEnz snaring the title of New Zealand’s premier audio publication.

AudioEnz founder and publisher Michael Jones has decided to call time after leading a large team of writers for three decades.

Marc Rushton, StereoNET’s publisher is delighted by the new acquisition.

With a reader base spanning generations and with a rich history of audio news and reviews focusing specifically on the New Zealand market, AudioEnz is a natural fit for us and a great vehicle to consummate plans to expand into the New Zealand market.

We are delighted by our acquisition and grateful to Michael Jones and AudioEnz for paving the way for StereoNET in New Zealand.

Michael Jones has given the acquisition his nod of approval.

AudioEnz has been a large part of my life for thirty years. But it’s now time to put it to an end. So thank you for being part of my last thirty years. Now to see what the next thirty brings,

Rushton says he will establish a local office and recruit a team in New Zealand to ensure AudioEnz remains relevant to its New Zealand readership, adding:

We’re very excited to add the AudioEnz publication to our portfolio. StereoNet Australia has had a large New Zealand based following for about twenty years. But now it’s time for New Zealand audio-video consumers to have access to dedicated local news and information,

StereoNET will add value to the New Zealand market with plans already in place to expand its highly successful International Hi-Fi Show into New Zealand in 2018.

The AudioEnz website and digital magazine will be relaunched soon.

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
