Sangean Reveals Latest Radio Range
Sangean, the world's largest and longest established specialist manufacturer of DAB+ and analogue radios, has revealed its new range for 2020/2021.
It may come as a surprise, but the live radio category holds 61.3% of audio listening in Australia. According to GfK, that compares to just 15% for streaming services including Apple Music, Spotify and others. So there's no doubt, live radio is alive and well, and Sangean wants to ensure you're using the latest technology for radio playback.
Innovating in the radio space since 1974, Sangean's new lineup includes seven models available in various colours and finishes, starting at just $44.95 for its SR-36BK AM/FM Pocket Radio, up to $379 for the U4BTB rugged DAB+/FM/Bluetooth Radio.
Sangean says the new design was carefully researched to cater to its existing customers, but also to appeal to new, younger customers. With people spending more time at home and upgrading their interior décor, the new range of designer radios is the perfect companion for those working from home.
Two new models of particular interest are the WR-45 ($239 RRP in dark walnut, $199 RRP in black or white) and WR-7 ($159 RRP available in matt black or walnut).
Aside from its bold and striking looks paying homage to a traditional gramophone, the WR-45 features FM, Bluetooth, and Aux-in, and uses a Lithium-ion 3.6V rechargeable battery for listening all around the home.
For something more compact, the WR-7 can be moved around the home and offers up to 36 hours listening time from its 3.6B Li-Ion rechargeable battery. With FM, Bluetooth, or Aux-in, and acoustically tuned wooden cabinet with passive speaker you'll be hearing crystal clear radio wherever you are.
Most models are available now, just in time for Father's Day and available from national retailers and specialist dealers throughout Australia.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
