PS Audio Stellar M1200 Mono Power Amplifiers Now Available
The Stellar M1200 mono power amps apparently began as a dream project of PS Audio's engineer, Darren Myers. The word is that Myers wanted to build a power amplifier without bounds or compression on even the loudest of musical passages, yet equally at home reproducing the subtlest of details. To create such an amp, Myers headed off to combine one of “the world's highest power amplifier stages with a rich and warm vacuum tube input stage.”
The resulting Stellar M1200 is rated at 600 Watts into 8Ω and 1200 Watts into 4Ω and is reported to be stable even at 2Ω. Under the hood, you'll find ultra-linear, high-current, ICE Edge Class D technology for the output stage; and a discrete, Class-A vacuum tube for the input stage. The Class A input stage features a hand-selected 12AU7 valve, fed from its own analogue power supply.
The PS Audio Stellar M1200 is available in black or silver and arrive in pairs with each monoblock tipping the scales at 12.2kg. Connectivity is by way of RCA and balanced XLR inputs, as well as a 3.5mm trigger input. Finally, the speaker binding posts are solid copper-plated.
The Stellar M1200 mono power amplifiers are available now and sell for $9,995 RRP per pair.
