Pro-Ject Perspective Final Edition, A Transparent Homage to The 90s

Pro-Ject's latest turntable is also the last in line as it reflects on the past with the Perspective Final Edition.

The Perspective Final Edition from Project Audio Systems is handmade in Europe, limited to 400 pieces and is the first deck to receive its maker's Final Edition treatment.

Featuring a transparent acrylic plinth, the new model pays homage to Pro-Ject's past, bringing back a seminal design whilst applying the latest build techniques and upgrading parts to deliver 2023 performance with classic looks.

Pro-Ject Perspective Final Edition

The original transparent Pro-Ject 6.9 Perspective, launched in the 1990s, marked Pro-Ject's move into high-end turntables, building on the Pro-Ject 1 and 2's commercial success, taking the maker into an elevated price category and moving its design to an isolated methodology. The result saw the 6.9 Perspective featuring a tonearm and platter on a sub-chassis spring isolated from the main chassis. This detached technique separates vibration from the deck's pickup process. This is the blueprint for the 2023 Pro-Ject Perspective Final Edition.

The new Final Edition version features a decoupled sub-chassis and three adjustable springs that prevent vibrations from reaching the needle and negatively impacting overall audio performance. Furthermore, it all rests on a trio of height-adjustable aluminium spikes designed to reduce the contact area and minimise vibration.

The 300mm precision aluminium platter with TPE damping sits on a high-precision stainless steel axle in bronze bushing and is driven by a belt turned by a two-speed electronic speed-controlled motor. Speed drift is listed as 33: +/-0,25%; 45: +/-0,23%.

The Perspective Final Edition sports gold-plated RCA connectors and a nine-inch one-piece carbon fibre tonearm (230mm effective length) with a fully adjustable azimuth and verticle tracking angle. It comes pre-fitted with an Ortofon 2M Bronze cartridge worth £365 RRP.

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
