PrimaLuna Announces EVO 300-1 Hybrid Integrated Amplifier
PrimaLuna has kicked some serious goals in recent years with its range of tube-based products. For the first time, it has announced its first hybrid amp with a tube frontstage by PrimaLuna, and a MOSFET power stage by Floyd Design.
Floyd Design, headed by Jan de Groot, has been servicing, designing and modifying solid-state circuits since 2002. Having worked for Luxman, Thorens, AirTight, and Bowers & Wilkins in western Europe, he became responsible in 1995 for the design and production of Sphinx, a famous Dutch audio brand at the time. He has since gone on to work with solid-state reference brands like Krell, Cello, Dartzeel, D'Agostino and more.
Partnering with PrimaLuna for the release of its EVO 300-1 and first hybrid integrated amplifier, has allowed the brand to offer a two-channel integrated, capable of 100 Watts per channel at 8 ohms (typical 115 Watts), 150 Watts per channel at 4 ohms (typical 170 Watts). Frequency Response is stated at 10 Hz – 80 kHz +/- 3 dB, THD < 0.2% 100W @ 8 Ohm, S/N Ratio -105dB (A-Weighted), Input Impedance 34 kOhm, Input Sensitivity 415 mV, for Total Gain of(Pre + Power Amp) 37.2 dB (7dB + 0.2dB).
Weighing in at 29kg, inputs include five pairs of Stereo RCA, one pair Home Theater Input. The tube preamplifier includes a tube complement of 6 x 12AU7.
Herman van den Dungen, PrimaLuna Founder, told StereoNET:
A fine-tuned match of our PrimaLuna proven tube pre-stage and our Floyd Design Mosfet power stage! Like with PrimaLuna, we firmly believe that Floyd's quality level will set the bar at a difficult height for other products to match.
The PrimaLuna Hybrid EVO 300-1 Integrated Amplifier will be available in Australia from October 2021 and will sell for $10,995 RRP.
