NAD Reveals C 379 Amplifier Before High End Munich 2024

NAD's C 379 modular “HybridDigital DAC Amplifier” breaks cover ahead of its Munich show unveiling.

As the High End Munich embargoed press releases pile up, NAD proudly announces the all-new C 379, the latest addition to its Classic Series of amplifiers.

NAD C 379

Rather than a streaming integrated amplifier, the Canadian firm dubs the C 379 a HybridDigital DAC amplifier. This comprises NAD's proven Class D amplifier and an ESS SABRE ES9028 32-bit digital-to-analogue converter.

The customised UcD output stage with HybridDigital technology is said to deliver 80 watts of continuous power (into 8 and 4 Ohms) and a remarkable 120 watts of dynamic power (4 Ohms). Furthermore, NAD says it does this “with virtually no noise or distortion”. Additionally, if you're feeling particularly fruity, the C 379 can be bridged with the C 268 Stereo Power Amplifier in a fully balanced configuration for 300 watts continuously and over 500 watts instantaneously to “provide maximum power and performance”.

The C 379 also boasts NAD's second-generation Modular Design Construction, MDC 2. This gives the new amplifier two expansion slots ready for emerging A/V technologies and additional features, including BluOS high-resolution multi-room streaming and Dirac Live Room Correction. The available MDC2 BluOS-D module further enables seamless integration with BluOS, Apple AirPlay 2, and two-way aptX HD Bluetooth.

Even without the BluOS streaming module, the C 379 offers aptX HD Bluetooth and several analogue and digital inputs (including HDMI eARC and an MM phono stage) for everything from TVs to turntables.

Rounding things off is a built-in headphone amplifier stage with high and low impedance settings, which, according to NAD, can drive a wide range of headphones.

The NAD C 379 will launch at the High End Munich show in Rooms D107 and D108 in Atrium 3.1. The new amplifier will be available at the end of June and cost £899.

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
