Meze Audio Alba Earphones Brand’s New Entry Point

Meze Audio’s Alba offers 10.8mm dynamic drivers and comes bundled with a DAC dongle.

Alba, so we are informed, translates from Romanian to ‘first light’, and Meze says this signifies those taking their first steps inspired by the world of elevated audio enjoyment. We initially thought they were simply named after their pearlescent white finish using the Latin translation.

Meze Audio states that the Alba in-ears preserves the brand’s design language while providing high levels of comfort, noise isolation and, most importantly, an unmistakable immersive listening experience.

With a 10.8mm dynamic driver and a claimed 15-25kHz frequency range, Alba boasts an “impressive sound profile” that complements the stylish design.

The new in-ears have a stated sound pressure level (SPL) of 109dB and come with specially designed silicone ear tips in four sizes (S, M, L, XL), so these should be comfortable for even long listening sessions.

The Meze Alba is also versatile. In addition to a standard 3.5mm headphone cable, it comes with a USB-C adapter complete with a built-in DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter), which boosts the sound quality of your chosen source and ensures an immersive audio experience.

Furthermore, thanks to the combination of zinc alloy and anodised aluminium parts and a lustrous pearl appearance, the Alba should remain looking good for a long time.

Meze Audio’s Alba earphones are available now for $350 RRP.

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
