Marantz Announces AV7706 8K 11.2 Channel AV Preamplifier
Marantz's new AV7706 8K surround AV pre-amplifier features 11.2 channel XLR and RCA pre-outs and promises to handle music, including your vinyl collection, with masterful fidelity.
The AV7706 pre-amp from Marantz is not only a fully-loaded AV processor but is also all set to be a masterful analogue pre-amp for when you prefer music to movies.
Sporting eight HDMI inputs and three outputs including a dedicated 8K input that supports 8K/60Hz or 4K/120Hz pass-through capability declares that the Marantz AV7706 is first and foremost an AV powerhouse. The other HDMI ins support up to 4K/60Hz and 4:4:4 Pure Colour sub-sampling, Dolby Vision, HLG, HDR10, 3D, BT 2020 pass-through and the latest HDCP 2.3 copy protection standard.
Naturally, there's HDR10+, Dynamic HDR, auto low latency mode (ALLM), variable refresh rate (VRR), quick media switching (QMS), and quick frame transport (QFT) support on all inputs. That's as well as HDMI eARC which supports 3D audio formats from the TV source.
Multi-dimensional audio is fully embraced with Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization Technology, DTS:X, DTS Virtual:X, IMAX Enhanced, and Auro-3D boxes all ticked.
When you want music, you can feed your tunes into the AV7706 via an analogue signal, NAS drive or your choice of music streaming services via Bluetooth, AirPlay 2 and HEOS Built-in up to FLAC192 and DSD5.6. This opens to the door to Internet Radio, Spotify Connect, Amazon Music HD, TIDAL, Deezer and more.
The AV7706's dedicated pre-amplifier board features Marantz Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module (HDAM) tech that provides an ultra-fast slew rate, true wideband performance and maximum dynamic range for optimum sound quality, says Marantz. There is also a separate power supply that feeds just the analogue pre-amp stage and “audiophile-grade” ELNA capacitors.
Digital audio goes via the advanced reference-class 32-bit AKM D/A converters on all channels that convert the digital signal coming from the two powerful Sharc Griffin Lite DSPs to the analogue domain.
The Phono EQ stage is as well equipped with the Marantz HDAMs offering high-speed signal handling and maintaining a clean audio signal for exceptional sound performance.
Finally, the AV7706 also features advanced room acoustic optimisation by Audyssey MultEQ XT32.
The Marantz AV7706 will be arriving in Australia late December 2020, and will sell for $4,950 RRP.
