HISENSE RELEASES WALLET FRIENDLY OLED TVS

Chinese TV manufacturer Hisense has made OLED TVs much more affordable in Australia with the launch of its first-ever OLED screen, and just in time for Christmas.

Announced in January this year at CES 2018, Hisense’s OLED TV joins its already impressive and affordable lineup of ULED TVs, and now gives customers a greater choice when choosing a big-screen for the living room.

Boasting several key buzzwords, the Hisense OLED TV offers 4K Ultra HD, HDR10 and HLG technologies, ensuring it’s future-proof for years to come. In addition, owners also get a Wide Colour Gamut and 200 Smooth Motion Rate.

To take full advantage of the 4K OLED panel, you’ll want to feed it 4K content, which can be done via pre-installed Netflix, YouTube and Stan video-on-demand apps (you will need to have the relevant subscription for certain services). Hisense’s OLED screen can also upscale non-4K content to near 4K-quality.

Hisense’s Vidaa U operating system is built-in too, with a customisable home screen for quick access to other on-demand services and inputs.

Chris Mayer, Product Specialist at Hisense Australia, explains that customers that have the benefit of owning a dark room will reap the rewards of an OLED TV, thanks to its high contrast levels and deep blacks.

The company’s ULED screens, on the other hand, can’t offer quite the same level of contrast, as they use local dimming, as opposed to OLED screens that can physically turn each pixel on and off. However they can go brighter, so perform better in rooms swamped by natural light.

Andre Iannuzzi, Head of Marketing at Hisense Australia, adds:

The launch of the Hisense OLED TV further demonstrates our unwavering commitment to brilliant design, technology and innovation, which are at the heart of everything we do. We’re very excited to be bringing this product to market.

The Hisense OLED TV is available now in 55- and 65-inch variants for the rather alluring prices of $3,499 and $4,999 respectively.

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
