Edwards Audio Lands Downunder

Edwards Audio has partnered with Melbourne-based distributor Jay Vee Technologies, which expands its range to include turntables, tonearms, and stereo audio electronics from the acclaimed UK hi-fi manufacturer.

Edwards Audio has enjoyed a very successful year, winning the 2024 StereoNET Product of The Year in the “Affordable Turntable” category in January, amongst other accolades, for their TT4 turntable.

The brand was created in 2009 by Kevin Edwards, the founder of TALK Electronics. Beginning with the MC1, a compact MM/MC phono stage, the Edwards range has expanded to include ranges of turntables, phono preamplifiers, pre/power/integrated amplification, external speed controllers and tonearms which are offered at several tiers, all manufactured in the UK.

Edwards Audio has taken a unique and innovative approach to turntable design. Its in-house manufactured uni-pivot tonearms and plinths, built with dense MDF panels sandwiched with dampening material, are finished in several colours with acrylic platters across the range. According to the company, this design reduces static and transmission through the plinth of vibration, setting their products apart in the market.

John Vandenberghe, Director of Jay Vee Technologies, told StereoNET:

We are delighted to be working with such an experienced and knowledgeable team as Edwards Audio. Their expansion has been steady and it’s encouraging to know that it is still very possible in this day and age to construct well built and designed equipment in a factory in Wiltshire by hand and still be competitive from the entry-level to the high-end.

Australian pricing and availability are still being confirmed, but stock is on its way - dealer enquiries are welcome.

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
