Acapella Sphaeron Excalibur Speakers at Audio Connection

There are loudspeakers, and then there's the Sphäron Excalibur from German Hi-Fi brand Acapella Audio Arts. Few times in life will you get to witness or audition speakers like this. Thanks to Audio Connection, in Leichhardt NSW, not only can you witness in person the shear size and beauty, but you can even experience a rare opportunity to hear them.

Acapella Sphaeron Excalibur

Developed from the “classical” Sphäron, the new Excalibur is raising to a new standard of dimension and variability. In consideration of the fact that the former Sphäron had to be combined with a 12m² horn unit for transmission of the lowest frequencies, according to Audio Connection, “the new Excalibur now can easily be integrated into living rooms having a minimum size of 40m²”. Two towering pillars with four huge 15 inches woofers for each unit now are taking over the part of the low frequency horn unit.

Every part of these speakers is hand crafted in Germany by Acapella.

The Excaliburs feature 8 subwoofers, 4 horns and 2 massless plasma tweeters which are accurate, detailed, extremely fast and capable of producing an amazing frequency range.

These are highly sensitive/efficent speakers able to produce 100dB with just 1 watt from an amplifier.

The Excaliburs stand 2.3 meters tall and weigh 620kgs.

The best part is they can be yours, for the small sum of $325,000 USD.

Don't worry too much about the price, most of us will never realistically own such beauty, but it's worth a look and a listen in any case. To do so visit Audio Connection.

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
